very, very many. Playing music (flute, pennywhistle, ukelele), films (chiefly love fantasy, animated, and old classic films. Some Japanese animated films are excellent), concerts & live music performances, picnics, nature walks, photography (and playing with them in PHotoshop) costuming, sci-fi/fantasy conventions, reading (biographies, sci-fi, mysteries, Tolkien's works and books about him) travel, visiting friends, checking out new restaurants, art and architecture, drawing & illustration, sculpting, learning about making prosthetics, learning about patterns and cloth and sewing. And discussing the minutia of film-making. (Also: sorry for the confusion RE my various IDs; I was trying to avoid an annoying Internet stalker/harasser. My original all-purpose ID was (and still is) "primmy_b".)
First Lord of the Rings reading experience:
After seeing the Bakshi film when it was first released, I had to know what happened! How did the story end!? Went out and bought a boxed paperback set and read the entire second half of TTT and ROTK over one weekend, then started over at the beginning of TFOTR.
I was hooked.
Favorite Tolkien character:
Frodo, because he volunteers to do something he knows is beyond his capabilities, only to protect his home and his people: his selflessness is inspiring.
