What's your alignment? Can't Post

I love the various memes showing characters of pretty much every movie or book by alignment. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you can take the test here: https://www.buzzfeed.com/...utral-lawful-chaotic.

I'm lawful good. I would rather be chaotic good but sigh I am one of those eldest children who think they have to be perfect and it's really hard to shake, even as I approach my threescore and ten.

Alignment is a bit passe. [In reply to] Can't Post

Alignment is almost an outdated concept even in D&D; it's also a bit railroad-y.

For the record, I've generally though of myself as chaotic good.

I've never been up with the current fashions [In reply to] Can't Post

As many a saleswoman has informed me, rather snottily, when I ask "do you have any . . . ?"

Neutral Good ... according to their survey [In reply to] Can't Post

I take anything from BuzzFeed with a 25 kg bag of salt but their survey rates me as Neutral Good. I think in my youth I was more Lawful Good but I've felt like I've been leaning toward Chaotic Neutral as I got older and more jaded so perhaps Neutral Good is a proper median point.

complicated [In reply to] Can't Post

I get lawful good but that is mostly since some of the choices do not suit me.

Like that trolley thing. I would rather try to blow up the vehicle itself or cast everything on the rails or blast them.
But that was not an option ...

As a cognitive psychologist, I naturally think of Kohlberg [In reply to] Can't Post

and his six stages of moral reasoning. He would have ranked neutral good (stage 5) above lawful good (stage 3/4).

Just like Bushroot from Darkwing Duck, so you better watch out, since the Fearsome Five might become the Sinister Six!!!Evil

Neutral good [In reply to] Can't Post

According to that quiz, anyhow.

Which makes sense. I'm basically law-abiding but sometimes if I feel the law/the rules are wrong (unethical, inequitable, etc.) then I will break them with a clear conscience. I'm also quite pragmatic.
