Maybe in the battle of three armies (between only the dwarves, elves, and men), if they make that into an actual battle scene. In the book it was just something that almost happened, but as others have said, I bet with the direction these films are going that we will have another battle, however brief, known as the BOTA (Battle of Three Armies). Perhaps Tauriel will die there. Imho, that would be very sad and work pretty well.
That's only if they want to make her die for some reason, though. There's no need to but I just really don't want her dying with the canonical main characters. I hope you're right that she won't.
