@ PeckishOwl re TH AUJ in French [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks, Kelvarhin, for this most interesting interview! Smile

PeckishOwl, I can tell you for certain that the German DVD edition of TH AUJ ('Der Hobbit: Eine unerwartete Reise') has the French audiotrack and French subtitles (as well as German and English) since I own a copy of it. You can buy it through amazon.de because they do ship to Poland. The DVD is sold at a reasonable price (today it's at 5.99 euros) so it wouldn't be all that expensive. Shipping at the normal tariff 'Standard' would be 3,25 euros per delivery plus 0,50 euros per kilogramme of goods. This standard delivery is a bit slow (7 to 21 working days) but express delivery to Poland is very expensive (18,00 euros per delivery plus 3,00 euros per kilogramme; it takes 1 to 4 working days). If you have a credit card, you can establish an account with amazon.de and they will ship the stuff to Poland but can guarantee this only for items that are directly purchased from amazon.de itself and possibly not for those that are offered by private sellers through amazon marketplace. I just phoned amazon.de to inquire into this matter, and also checked out their 'Hilfe' page (that's the 'help' page).

It never occurred to me to watch it in French (my French not being perfect) but I just checked it out and found it quite interesting, and I'll probably watch the entire film in French sometime. The subtitles differ a lot from the spoken French but I still find them helpful. It was very odd to hear them sing the Misty Mountains song in French but not that bad (my first shock last year of hearing it sung in German when watching it in the cinema with friends who don't understand English well enough to watch it in the original version has prepared me for it, I suppose).

I need to check out your Facebook page and websites, too, for all the Oakentoons and stuff which I quite enjoy! Smile

'Goodness gracious, you really are a messie!' 'Oh no, I'm not, these are all just mathoms...'
