Mmmm... trouble is the TV series [In reply to] Can't Post

...might suffer from all the abominations you're mentioned and then some, having more time to expend on them.

Am currently watching and - I have to admit - enjoying the second series of 'Once Upon a Time' which is terribly corny and naff, with very clunky special effects, but it's fun and completely unpredictable. But my toes are curling now at the very thought of The Silmarillion getting that kind of treatment.

I think I'd rather conclude that it's so vast it's unfilmable in any format, and leave it at that.

Smith of Wootton Major, now - I would love to see a sympathetic film of that.
