It can be useful when I'm emailing Tolkien fans, or talking about my dog, Arwen. The best use of Elvish by me came the night I was at the Chicago Film Festival. When Viggo Mortenson stepped out of his car and onto the red carpet I yelled, "Mae Govannen Viggo!" and got a BIG smile in return.
Keep practicing your Elvish, you never know when it will come in handy.
On a much smaller scale, I had a teenage Legolas come to my door for Halloween two years ago - very nice costume too, but he was quite aggrieved because no one knew who he was other than hazarding Robin Hood guesses. As I handed him his candy I said "Mae govannen, Legolas," and he said it made his holiday. Always a use!!!!
Manwe, when asked a simple "Yes" or "No" question, contemplated, and responded "the middle one."
