I would have loved to have visited it. It sounds magnificent. Too bad it doesn't get as much recognition as some of the other cities. I love its association with swans. I'm not sure of Tolkien's fascination with them, but it makes for some lovely imagery. I also like that it seems to be in some sort of perpetual twilight where the stars are always visible and there's a blue kind of light. That's how I've always imagined it anyway. Couple that with the Sea, and it's just beautiful!
There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall and the bells in the steeple, too. And up in the nursery an absurd little bird is popping out to say coo-coo (coo-coo, coo-coo).
