but i would like to know where all these female lotr fans are, as i have hardly come across any female fans of the movies compared to males (i work with the public so its basically 50/50 for the gender of the people i see).

I dont know if the demographics of the film is different to the film, but if more women get into the books through the films than would otherwise, then its a good thing.
