Read that in place of the Silmarillion chapter 'Of Túrin Turambar'. I don't think anything else is worth reading before reading the Silmarillion version. There are other expanded texts that are good to read after you know the basic story, but none are complete. The Children of Húrin is an actual completed novel that would be incredibly exciting to read without knowing anything about it, IMO. Also, join us for our discussions of The Silmarillion!
There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall and the bells in the steeple, too. And up in the nursery an absurd little bird is popping out to say coo-coo (coo-coo, coo-coo).
