I tend to have it on a lot in the background without always paying attention *shame* and then I'll suddenly notice some little point of significance that I never seem to notice when I'm actually watching in earnest. Tonight The Two Towers was on and when the flag of Rohan flutters down, it lands unfurled with the running horse upside down, which is a universal distress signal. I don't know if it was intentional, but it really fits. ( I checked the lists and I don't think this is in there.)
Since we got the blueray version and a larger screen I also notice a lot of details and textures that I never saw before. For instance, I never noticed the detail in how Sam's cookware was put together, and a lot of the costuming details like the embroidery on Gandalf the White's robe. I notice new stuff every time I watch. I had always thought that blue ray was sort of like the emperor's new clothes ("I'll believe it if you'll believe it."), but now I'm a true believer.
