Going out and meeting people is probably the way to go. In that field it's who you know.
My uncle made a movie, "A Tale About Bootlegging" we even had Sonny Shroyer (Dukes of Hazzard) but despite good acting, filmaking etc, it just didn't sell.
It really is about getting contacts and knowing people in the know.
Anything in entertainment industry is hard, but I wish you all the best in your film making endeavors!
