We are the inmost province of the fading isle
Where lingers yet the Lonely Reading Room.
Still, undespairing, do we sometimes slowly file
Discursive threads regardless of our doom:
We caring ladies and soft didactic lads
That dance among the tomes disdaining fads
For wistful thoughts of Ages past, that could be yet.
We post and comment in a sudden boom,
A gust of Tolkien gas — and then forget
Three thousand posts like wind-shaken falls
Of golden trees, lost in winter’s squalls.
