Tintallė Gondor Oct 19 2021, 6:43am Views: 1214 I love the Wheel of Time books and was excited about this series until I saw the trailer with Rosamund Pike as Moiraine. Whoever cast her in that role probably never read the books. I am most definitely not a Rosamund Pike fan to begin with and she is about as far from Moiraine as my imagination can imagine. Casting for both LOTR and The Hobbit was excellent once Stuart Townsend was replaced by Viggo Mortensen. Casting for Game of Thrones was as if the characters stepped out of the pages onto the screen - it was perfect. This - well, I'll give it a try.

Did you have some actresses in mind for the role of Moraine?

Tintallė Gondor Oct 20 2021, 5:06pm Views: 1185 To begin with, someone shorter than 5'9" Moiraine was petite, in sharp contrast to her immense power. Personally I do not feel that Rosamund Pike is a particularly good actress; her facial expression hardly varies, nor does her voice, and her voice's pitch is much deeper than I would expect from Moiraine, (aside from when she's channeling big time!). Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Emilia Clarke come to mind - all around 5'2" and all capable of projecting power with face, voice and body language. Alicia Vikander would be another choice, although she is 5'6". Even Winona Ryder or Christina Ricci would be better than Pike IMHO. But that is not for me to decide. *sigh*
