OK Sibs... we have work to do!

As I was working on my TIME/BS files, I found that we have a pretty incredible pair of Anniversaries coming up.

The publication of The Silmarillion is September 15, 1977.... 40 years ago this year! This month!

The publication of The Hobbit is September 21, 1937 ......... 80 years ago this year! This month!

*blink, blink* Is this right!?

I think this deserves a PARTY!!!!! :D So put on your thinking caps and prepare any games or activities with Hobbit and Sil themes. Oh yeah... and we have Bilbo and Frodo's Birthdays on September 22!! *GEEKY OVERLOAD* So we need some game/activity stuff for them, too!

Just go ahead and post here on Main, Off Topic, and The Hobbit Discussion Boards starting on September 15 and keep adding them through September 21 and finish up on September 22. Be sure to put "Party Time" in your Subject Line so they are easily found. It's up to you if you want to distinguish them as Sil / Hobbit / B'day.

A TRIFECTA!

If you like... give a heads-up on your game/activity in this thread.

40 and 80 years and in the same month!! THIS IS SO COOL!

*whispers* We won't even to into the fact that it's also the 40th Anniversary of the Rankin/Bass animated film version of The Hobbit (November 27, 1977)

I've got a couple of ideas :D

I really love haikus. So I'm going to toss out a Hobbit and/or Sil-themed haiku... multiple offerings are welcome!

AND, in honour of weaver, I think a 6-subject line challenge would be fun :D

I feel more ideas percolating! I'll post mine on Boards that are a little light on games ;)

I could post my The Hobbit quotes quiz again

Would there be any interest in that?

Oh dear, late to the party!

I don't seem to have the mental energy to come up with a game, but please let me know if I can help in any way!

If not, I may just sit down and read the Sil. again in personal celebration.SmileSmile

I could handle a "The Hobbit" only textual trivia quiz?

Not sure what squire is thinking, but he, of course, has firsties! I'll check with a PM.

HEY! There's ALWAYS room for hobbits! :D

I think trivia games are best when they're plentiful and take on different twists! They're always fun!
Let's spread them out across the Off Topic, Main and Hobbit Boards and I'll let posters know to check each Board for Party Time stuff.
THANKS... I say the more the merrier!

A Tornsib is never late...

...well, almost never! Laugh

After trying in vain to develop a Mad Lib involving the Sil, I decided to return to The Hobbit - it's a bit more jovial than the Sil, thus more amenable to shenanigans with the text! 'Twill post shortly.
