A Clicky Sticky??

Dear patient wonderful mods SmileSmile

I am one of those people with a mental impediment -- I simply can't seem to remember how to make my links clickable! I know I'm not the only one with this disability. Is the correct how-to embedded somewhere in TOS or admin heaven? Would it make sense to create a sticky to address this small but persistent problem??

Respectfully submitted,

(* stuffs post in suggestion box *)

Thank you!! Smile

It is addressed

in TORN 201 (in the Welcome section), item 2.22

But here's the gist:

If you're using Advanced Editor:

1. Write the text you want to use for the link, then highlight it.
2. Click the link (chain) icon in the message box toolbar.
3. Delete the the "http://" that is already there in the box that pops up, and paste in your URL
4. Click "Submit"

If you're using Basic Editor, you'll need to use the Markup code. Click here and scroll down to the bottom for the codes for the various types of links. You can get to this page from Basic Editor by clicking the "Get Markup Help" link above the message box.

Yup, me too...

I open the TORn markup help page every time I'm linking something. You'd think it would be a sixth sense by now! AngelicCool

Thanks, Silverlode!

I'm getting a stone tablet and chisel now so in the future, I have no excuses for not knowing the how-to! WinkCool

I've got one that i've been wondering over...

What is this Advanced Editor that you speak of? Seems, from what you say, i've been using Basic Editor. How do i access Advanced? And does it have anything to do with Advanced Dungeons & Dragons?

If you are using Chrome or Safari...

you are stuck with Basic Editor.

If you are using Firefox or Internet Explorer, you have a choice. I think (I can't check since I'm in Chrome) that you have that choice in your compose window and in your settings.

What browser are you using?

Whatever it is, i'm sure it won't do Advance Editor.

My Mac is down, so i'm stuck on my PS3, which has a terrible browser (but it's something). Oh well, i do fine with the Basic Editor. Thanks for the reply!

sometimes I miss my Advanced Editor

but not enough to go back to Firefox.

btw, there are more codes that will work with the Markup Code than you'll find on the "Get Markup Help" page. When I want to do something that I can't find on the help page, I'll just do a search for that code in other languages and keep trying them till one works. Often, I can get one to work.

But having to code everything (and we have those buttons along the bottom but they're a little buggy in how they work and it's often easier to just type the code) makes me keep the formatting simple. That's not a bad thing, most of the time.

Yeah, i stumbled across that page a week or so ago

and bookmarked it. There's a lot of useful stuff there, but the bookmarking thing doesn't run so smoothly on the PS3, so i'm gonna write some of my favorites down (on paper!) for future use. Thanks for the good advices!
