favorite moments from the EE Appendices

one of the things I love about the Extended Editions is watching the appendices and seeing the comraderie between the cast, they look like they're having so much fun and I wish I could have been a part of that in any way, since the Extended Edition of The Hobbit is about to come out I thought it'd be fun to remember some of the funniest and best moments from behind the scenes. I'll be honest I haven't really watched much of the appendices of TTT and ROTK but i have watched the FOTR appendices loads of times

there was a bit in which Dominic and Billy were sitting around waiting to shoot their scenes an they were talking smack about Elijah, then Elijah comes up and they're all cheery and happy to see him then Dominic runs off to do something and it's Elijah and Billy making fun of him while he's gone then Dom comes back and they're all cheery and friendly again

Billy freaking out when he thought the firework was gonna explode

Billy and Dom measuring themselves if you know what I mean. and Dom desperatly trying to hide a blow up doll under the bed

Andy Serkis ripping Sean Astin's wig right off his head, you can see that Sean was really mad about that

that's really all i can remember for now, I also watched the EE for script writing tips from PJ and Fran and Phillipa I can't wait to see what they have for AUJ

"White light! White light!"

I laughed like a drain when Orlando was retelling the story of the head-butt. :D

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

yeah!

I just watched that video yesterday when it was brought up on another topic here. I like Viggo's little "hee hee" when he talked about it lol

I loved the story about

Viggo catching a fish and then being ordered around during the coooking process by (I hope I have the right person) Kiran Shah, who was one of the scale doubles. I still laugh my head off every time.

It's always interesting hearing the cast talking about each other. I felt sorry for Sir Ian having to share a caravan with Elijah and his vast CD collection!

And I like all the horsey behind the scenes stuff, especially the bearded ladies.

The Horses

I loved the extra bits about the horses. My favorite story is that of Arwen's riding double for whom Viggo purchased the stallion after the movie wrapped. Genuine generosity and a class act.

I think that is why people feel so attached to LOTR. The special relationship of the cast and crew brings a special aura to the films.

That stallion is still going strong

at the age of 26. There was a recent article about him in NZ Horse & Pony.

It's been a while since I last watched the extras

So I can't remember any particular moment, but I enjoyed them immensely. I wanted so much to have a similar experience (or adventure Laugh) that, I am quite sure, those extras were at least in part responsible for my decision to finally follow my dream of teaching abroad. It was the best decision of my life. Smile

Billy and Viggo

kissing at Sam and Rosie's wedding.

And especially the talking afterwards. "I think I was in love for a few seconds. And than I felt dirty" (or something like that) from Billy.

I love the last days of shooting. Make me cry each time I see them. Especially the Haka the stunt guys did for Viggo.

Seeing the worry for Edmund Hillary when he visits the set. PJ giving him his arm so the old man doesn't slip and fall on set.

And what I always find motivating to keep track of stuff at my work, is seeing Barry Osborne keeping track of all that is going on with filming, special effects, music, editing etc. at the end of ROTK. That must have been crazy to keep that all in check and changing plans when PJ thought of something different.

Oi, there is a lot I like in the Appendices. I think I have seen them more often than the movies.

Filming the very last shot

Yeah the last days were very moving. I remember the last shot they filmed was Frodo writing in the Red Book PJ filmed that like 12 times cause he didn't want it to end lol 12 takes for a shot of a guy writing in a book. and all the cast got gifts now I really can't wait for the Hobbit EEs

I just loved the relationships between the Fellowship...

...especially the four hobbits. Billy, Dom, Elijah, and Sean grew very close throughout the filming process, and they just seem to hit it off. Also, Viggo was in on it too. Things like fishing with the whole group, just waiting to get a sunrise shot for TT.

Too many!

What I really love is when they talk about the logistics, and the crazy rush before THE DEADLINE!

Loved the story about

the guy who had all Weta's VFX shots for the Two Towers on an ipod and was walking through London and started to get followed by a couple of thugs and had to sprint back to where they were staying. Laugh

my favourite bit is in one of the introductions

that has Billy, Dom, and Elijah. At the end, Elijah says something like " and remember, the fellowship lives on" , Billy says " and remember, try to get out of the house occasionally" and Dom just shoots a saucy wink at the camera. Cracks me up every time

I cry every time

I watch them all the way through and then watch them filming the final scene! I cry EVERY time! I cried at the end of Appendices part 7 for the hobbit too, at the end they replayed that last shot of LoTR and then the cast of The Hobbit were saying goodbye! Jesus they know how to tug at those heart strings! Laugh

I simply walked into Mordor.
