He is such an amiable man, isn't he?

How neat that he's coming back for a few days. :)

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Really neat!

It's nice to hear that Billy Boyd is going to visit NZ. In fact, it's nice to hear about him! With all the buzz about the Hobbit, most attention have been on the actors (*cough*and non-canon characters*cough*). I haven't forgotten Billy, and I would love to see him in an episode of Doctor Who. It sounds like he, Dom and Elijah are still friends. That's nice to hear. Have fun Billy!

Regarding coughnon-canon charactercough

She's much less marketed than it's made out around here. It's just that whenever some trade recycles one of actress's old quotes, there's a thread with over 70 replies. So that creates illusion that she's getting more press than anyone else. In reality, the marketing campaign hasn't even started properly and she is hardly the focus of it. Compared to press that's given to some movies coming out next year (Divergent, Guardians of the Galaxy) or in 2 years (Batffleck), hers is very, very tame. It's fan's curiosity that makes the character frequent long-running forum topic more than marketing which has been miniscule.

Not really...

As far as DoS marketing is concerned, Tauriel's exposure is WAY beyond what I would have thought the Captain of the Guard, even an expanded one, would merit. The amount of Tauriel marketing I've seen thus far points to her playing a large role in DoS. Many of us don't mind her inclusion, but also don't want her to wear out her welcome.

She's a new character who need introduction

and her marketing isn't extreme. One would think she's the Loki of the franchise (since Loki is the focus of marvel campaign even for movies he isn't in), they way fans overblow stuff written about her or where she appeared.

I've seen her marketed frequently

There is a whole display of books related to The Hobbit, and Tauriel graces the cover of each one. Most of the characters that the film is supposed to be about, are no where to be seen. One would almost think she's even replaced the other characters, the way she seems to be everywhere.
Anyway, this thread is supposed to be about Billy Boyd. I was only making a comment about how characters and actors from the Hobbit, (including Tauriel) have gotten a lot of attention, and despite it all, I still think about Billy Boyd.

I have a feeling

she will end up wearing out her welcome. Yes, I know the film hasn't come out yet, but my cynical side is not holding out any hope. (If you've read some of my other posts, I've mentioned that I tend to expect the worst and hope for the best. It has to do with anxiety issues.)
Having said that, back to Billy Boyd.

Fabulous!!! :D Awesome!!!

This article is ACTION-PACKED with GOOD STUFF!!! Billy's going back to NZ AND Hobbiton AND will be joining Dom on his show! OMG! I can't WAIT to see that! I was wonderding how long it would be until one or all of the Hobbits joined him. Going on adventures to find elusive creatures sounds like stuff they all would get into!

Maybe Billy and Dom will work on that screenplay they started 10 years ago!

AND Peter doing a Dr Who w/ Billy joining in!? BE STILL MY BEATING HEART!

WOW!
