"Your Middle-earth name" game

noWizardme Half-elven Aug 3 2013, 10:00am Views: 3148 "Your Middle-earth name" game I expect people are familiar with those word games which generate "your name" for a particular fantasy/sci-fi world? Examples are probably the easier way to explain: Generate Your Starship Enterprise name from the colour of your current underwear, and the last thing you ate (Ensign Aubergene Granola reporting for duty, sir!) Generate your Star Wars name from a car you have driven and a medicine you have taken (Jedi Knight Zetec Loratidine, at your service). Does anyone know if Middle-earth ones that work at all (enough to be entertaining?) I'd expect it to be harder to sound feasible, since Tolkien mostly made his character names out of languages he'd invented, or borrowed them from mythology he'd read. this as opposed to choosing names with a certain sound (or whatever Rodenberry, Lucas et al did!) There's a NZ Impatiens on the back step. And a fairy rose at the side of the house. They could make interesting names, I guess. There are also moss roses at the side. I like that name. If I go with a different great grandmother I would have Regina MossRose. But Regina went by Cora so Cora MossRose. Interestingly, Regina Titus married Henry Rose. So she had a botanical name already. It can be confusing, though, too. Cousins can easily have the same name and be born around the same time. Elven name- Luthien Felagund Hobbit name- Rosie-Posie Bunce of Brockenborings (yikes!) I wish they had a dwarf name generator too :( I did find the dwarf word for love (after much online searching!) and it is azyungel (tech. the love of love), and since my real life name means loveable that was the closest I got I suppose my elf name could also be Melda, which also means beloved.... If only Khuzdul had been more developed like elvish was by the professor might be hard for an English speaker to pronounce, but it would have been very interesting to learn....
