A lot of this footage was evidently shot by Costa Botes. I think some of it made its way into his three feature-length candid documentaries, which are available on the Blu-ray set and were released as extras on an earlier boxed set of the trilogy. I know some of that footage was in the director's cuts of those films, which Costa (one of my interviewees for my book THE FRODO FRANCHISE) kindly gave me; they may have been censored out in the DVD/Blu-ray versions. A lot of blooper material went into the "farewell" films that were made for each actor and shown on the set on the last day each one was there for principal photography. These added up to a total of over two hours. (Ian McKellen, another of my interviewees, kindly showed me those after the interview.) They're never been released, largely, I assume, because they were cut to various pop songs, sometimes two or three per film, and to include them as extras on the DVDs, New Line would have had to pay a fortune to clear the rights. Also, since they were made as gifts for individuals, I expect not everyone wanted their films made available to the public. Frankly, I don't remember which bits were in Costa's films and which were in the farewell films. I do remember some of the gags described in the TORn story you linked. Possibly more of the bloopers will be included if the rumored "ultimate" DVD set comes out.
