"Song Of The Lonely Mountain" and The Hobbit Soundtrack (SPOILERS Maybe)

So I hadn't really listened to "Song Of The Lonely Mountain" In full before I had just heard snips of it and when I was leaving the movie. but I got it yesterday and listened to it, and it was weird at first cause I was used to hearing Thorin and Co sing to that tune plus it had different lyrics. but it grew on me and I like it now I felt like Bilbo did when he listened to the dwarves song lol. anyway I was wondering what your thoughts on it and the rest of the hobbit soundtrack was. and speculation on the next two I wonder what they'll do for the next two credits songs.

I'm glad they did "Blunt The Knives" in the film it's exactly as the book describes except the lyrics are flipped around somewhat, I thought that scene would be stupid but it really wasent

and of course "Misty Mountains" demands reverence and silence lol always chilling

I'm still holding on for some reference to "The Greatest Adventure" from the 70s cartoon and for some reason I wish they'd get Eddie Vedder to do a song for the films

I hope that they bring back the song "In Dreams" for the climax of "There And Back Again" I could hear it being played over Thorin,Kili and Fili's funeral with Bilbo saying Goodbye to the company, seeing the Lonely Mountain from a distance again then finally as the final lyrics are sung " I will go there and back again" Bilbo arrives home in Bag-End

sorry if all that seemed random just thought I'd get my thoughts out there

I love 'Misty Mountains'...

That is the bit in the trailer that really got me excited. Captured a solemn mood and spirit of adventure that made it plain this may be a small book but it's a big tale.

Not as instantly gripped by 'Song of the Lonely Mountain' but maybe it's a grower...

Love it.

It's my favorite of all of the closing songs from the Peter Jackson Tolkien films.

I hope the final song for "There and Back Again" to end the trilogy can have a similar essence.

Also loved the hammer and anvil sounds.

I've been thinking the same thing.

I love "Song of the Lonely Mountain." I did like "May it Be" and "Into the West," of course, but I think I like this one more. I wonder who will do the ending songs for the next two.

Misty Mountains is awesome...

Only disappointing thing was not to have a longer version of it in the soundtrack which I actually was half-expecting.

I was hoping that they recorded some more of the lyrics from the book. Unsure

I only heard part of it

And I liked it so far, but I didn't get to hear the entire song, cause as soon as the movie was over, my dad wanted to leave. He doesn't like staying for the credits.

I

love both versions of Song of the Lonley Mountain! Bilbo's look during the song was great, he's really starting to be interested in their quest. Smile

Soundtrack complaint

I love the Lonely Mountain song, though I like May It Be a bit more, it's definitely better than the rest and I thought was a great ending to the film.

Massive complaint I have about the soundtrack though is the exclusion of the music from the eagle rescue in the film. It was the best music from the entire movie.

Some music for AUJ's climax was recorded very last minute!

That's why some of it doesn't appear on the soundtrack. The re-recording of the Nazgul theme, used as Thorin is charging towards Azog, didn't make it to the soundtrack CD either.

Howard Shore was working right up to the deadline.

Was it?

I was under the impression that the soundtrack was completed on time.

Far Over The Misty Mountains Cold

"As they sang the hobbit felt the love of beautiful things made by hand and by cunning and by magic moving through him, a fierce and jealous love, the desire of the hearts of dwarves. Then something Tookish woke up inside him, and he wished to go and see the great mountains, and hear the pine-trees and the waterfalls, and explore the caves, and wear a sword instead of a walking-stick."
