I'd never really been an Enya fan,

though i'd had a few girlfriends throughout the nineties who'd been fans, so i was certainly aware of her music, and liked her voice. So when she came up in the soundtrack at the end of the film that first time i saw Fellowship, echoing the scene where she actually sang in the film itself, it just seemed so perfect. I still remember sitting there in the audience, still stunned by what i'd just seen, with Enya's voice and music washing over me. It's one of my fondest memories. And even though i still wouldn't call myself an Enya fan, i do unabashedly love that song. It really was the perfect song, and singer, to close out that film. And while i love the creepy mystery of Gollum's Song, and the majesty of Into the West is slightly overwhelming, they can't hold a candle to Enya's May It Be. And the Neil Finn song is, just like AUJ itself, merely good. Not bad, but not great... good.
