Interview with Gareth Daley - Parts of The Hobbit were shot at 96fps

There's a nice interview with the 3D camera supervisor here, who worked on The Hobbit. The interview focuses on the new HFR technology, and says how they played around with the frame rates:
We used 96 and other "off speed 48" frame rates. Because there was such a ceiling above 48 on the EPIC, it was essentially shooting film; there was nothing different about it.
