Chronicles: Art & Design. 208 or 272 pages?
Hi, I've still avoided the reviews and the related threads, so if this post repeats itself it is only because I deliberately missed to peer through the pages.

So, can someone please clarify the difference between the two editions below?Thank you

I had this problem too.
I think the longer paged one was for when there were only two films. Now there's three, all the stuff with Beorn/Mirkwood/Elves has been cut out so won't be in the book, but Amazon are still listing it.

WETA are selling the book with less pages. So I ordered that one.

So if I order the pricier one do I get ripped off?! Amazon.com only lists the 270-page version. I'm so confused right one and the admins won't let me post this in the main, more busier, thread.

I assume so.
What with WETA only selling the 207 page one. There's no sign of a 'special edition' or anything anywhere.

But I could be wrong.

Here it is on their website. Getting it from them guarantees you get the 'right' edition, and as others have said, I'm pretty sure Amazon's info is outdated (again, hah!). It's always best to buy from the source.
It's signed and you get a discount on another product of theirs, as well. I just bought mine two days ago.

That what I assumed, too...
I have had the longer version on pre-order wth Book Depository since October, and have had no notification from them about any change, even though they have the longer version listed as "currently unavailable" on their website. I don't know whether I will be getting the shorter version now instead, but presumably that is the case. If nothing turns up in the mail on December 14th then I shall be on the 'phone!! Frown

Bigger pictures?
And yet on this forum http://www.amazon.co.uk/Same-book-different-price/forum/Fx2UG7FL7CHDDDW/Tx2IY37XR0A165Q/1?_encoding=UTF8&asin=0007487339 someone hints that the 272-page edition has the same content as the cheaper one, only that its pictures are enlarged and so it's lenghtier. That sounds odd.

I find it highly unlikely that there's two separate versions...
Either they cut down on the number of pages to reflect the new 3 film structure, or the page count was wrong to begin with. Either way, I don't imagine there will be anything other than one book put out.

I had this ordered on Amazon.com, but then I found out about the signed copies from WETA, and I just had to go for that. :) Looks like I did it just in time.

The Hobbit Chronicles: Art & Design is 208 pages long
There is no 272 page version. As others have said, the 272 page number quoted on some websites is a result of out of date listings. It was going to be a 272 page book when there were only two films, but the switch to three films happened just as the book was about to go to print back in July, so the last quarter of the book was cut, resulting in a 208 page book. There is only one version coming out and it comes on December 14th. All rumours or speculation about bigger pictures, etc. in some special edition publication are nonsense. I have this straight from the author.

I hope this helps put that question to bed.

Hey Guys, I am feeling worse than gollum right now when he lost the ring. Some how the pre-order is sold out, who would have thought right. Well, as I sit here sick to my stomach that I missed out. Yeah, they know whats going on. Gotta keep your finger on the pulse of whats happening and they do that quite well.

My book has shipped and I can't wait to see it. I do have a non-signed copy coming from Amazon so that way I can look at it and not mess up the signed copy.
