The One Expected Party Website

Hot off the heels of the exciting festivities in Wellington, we are happy to open the official party subsite for 'The One Expected Party!' This site will be your one stop location for all of the fine details about this black-tie gala hosted by TheOneRing.net on Oscar Night 2013. To say the night will be special for every Tolkien fan is a bit of an understatement. Our planning team are working overtime to make this the most memorable event TheOneRing.net has ever hosted! Entertainment for the night includes Billy Boyd's band Beecake, Emerald Rose and Charles Ross of 'The One Man Lord of the Rings!'  To coincide with the launch of the subsite, we are excited to announce that invitations to the party are now being sent to email inboxes around the world. The first invitations are being sent to those fans who filled our our Oscar Party survey last year. So if you gave us your feedback, look for an email today! Tickets will then be offered to our registered forum members and members of The Fellowship. If there are tickets left, we will open them to the general public. Check out the official party subsite for more details and hope you can join us for this amazing evening! [Party Subsite]

Woohoo!!!! Here we go!!! :D

It's fantastic that those close to TORN will be able to get their tickets and plans set before the floodgates are opened. How thoughtful and very classy :)

THANK YOU!!!! *geeky hand clapping*

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

Threads about this event?

Are there any threads talking about this event? I have searched but maybe not in depth enough. :) yvonne

no, I don't think so

First, it's kind of far off and I'm not sure tickets have even gone on sale yet.

Second, most of the TORn staffers will likely be communicating through methods other than the boards. So that leaves message board members communicating via threads on the message boards and I don't know how many message board members will actually be going.

The best thing to do is just keep watching, especially closer to the event.

Or, start talking about it. :-)

Are you hoping to go? Did you have questions? Are you wanting to meet up with people?

Yes!

Thanks for your reply. Yes, we got our tix or I should say we were charged for them. So maybe we are the only ones. It's an arm and a leg, but it'll be worth it. We were at the Return of the One and still talk about it.

Sorry I have been so out of touch in this forum. It's been a long time.

I'm sure you're not the only one

It's just that TORn is comprised of many 'sets' in a Venn Diagram. Only parts of those sets intersect with other sets. So you're looking for the people who are going who are also posting on the message boards. Again, the number of people in that overlapping area may increase over time.

It should be a blast. Wish I could be there. :-)

Totally bummed

I got my email, registered and was all set to buy my tickets, but just found out that my PTO request was denied. I'll be there in spirit with everyone (as I was with the other parties) but it looks like I have to miss this one as well. Frown

You aren't the only ones!

I am quite ready for an adventure. I have never been to LA or seen Hollywood or attended a party of this magnificence. I am most excited about the Ringers...lots and lots of Ringers. It will be a special night, and I couldn't let myself miss it. I must add that I have a wonderful husband. He is keeping the little one and letting me have my weekend adventure!

Oh yay!!!

Oh that is so nice of your hubby to do that. We're Yvonne & Brian and live about 60 minutes from LA so we'll be getting a hotel as well since we'll be partaking in the pints.

Have you booked your hotel? Last time we stayed at The Holiday Inn a block away and it was very nice to just walk, because you know us girls our in our fancy shoes. We haven't booked yet, but hope to soon.

Glad to hear a positive review

Yes, I booked at the Holiday Inn as well. I thought I should limit walking since I don't know the area (and pints in heels!).

Ooops

Actually I booked at the Best Western. See, I clearly don't know a thing about the area.

me too

I figured 161 ft was pretty darn close. And the same side of the street. I'm all for right turns in Los Angeles.

Rotten luck, Taliesin

Frown

Wish you could be there in person, but you'll definitely be there in spirit with us. Two more to go after this one, though. Hopefully you'll be able to make it to those! Smile

So awesome that all of you are going to be there!

I'm also definitely looking forward both to re-connecting with TORn friends I've met and meeting new ones. We'll see you all there

That's probably the one we'll book. When we called, the guy at the front desk had no idea what we were talking about, so we'll call back. Did you have a problem?

Oh and I just found the Event page on FB, so I posted on there. (Yvonne)

same issue

Yes same issue with front desk... had to restate the quoted group rate... repeat that it was a GROUP RATE and restate the group about three times....

Going to call back to double check that he got it right

I did call them back... they have my reservation for Feb 24th.... if you are having difficulties the desk clerk suggested trying between 10 and 3 Pacific Time Monday to Friday....and speaking to David.
I told him that might be a bit of a difficulty as people are coming from all over and hitting that time frame might be hard....

Booked!

Yay, room booked at BW, nice and close. David wasn't in and was at lunch around 2:30, then we talked to him at 3:15 PST, so he was still there.

So for those of you that call, definitely talk to David if possible.
