*turns key in lock*

Hope your internet gets installed shortly! How's the rest of the unpacking (aside from your accident) going?

Thank you dernwyn :-)

It's all gone a lot more smoothly than I imagined. Unpacking is killing my back though, and I'm fed up of putting up curtain rails.Wink

I should be getting the internet mid-November. Though, I shouldn't be complaining. You guys have had it much worse with Sandy storming through.

Though im guessing you knew that already, lol.

So, dragging a chest of drawers up the stairs by yourself isn't advised? /

haha, erm...no lol

Pushing it up the stairs may have been better.

But you have a gf so she should have been at the top steering while you are at the bottom pushing.

I can remember doing the exact same thing last January - moving is a real pain (in more ways than one)!

When i helped my dad move over in cali, they got some professionals to help out and wow were those guys strong! One picked up a sofa by himself and carried it out the house, down some stairs, on his head!

That's real nice of you, im sure she appreciated it!

And yeah removal men are a ripoff in the UK. Better to rope friends and family in if possible, lol.

Or at the worst a white van man, who just charges by the hour - so long as you are not moving very far, it can be real cheap as you move everything in one go, rather than loads of back and forth car trips.

Now you know why

Pushing from the bottom is great advice (nod to Imin), but also taking the drawers out and carrying them individually lightens the load considerably.

I've found my smattering of high school physics to be of great use when moving large objects by myself.

I took the drawers out

But decided against pushing as it kept getting caught on the carpet/stairs.

All great advice. I'll get yourself and imin helping next time.Wink
