Happy 10-11-12 !

Fall is definitely here. I promise I won't make anybody listen to my biannual whine about Daylight Savings Time.Cool

I'll listen to your biannual whine!

I only like the one when we get an extra hours sleep (I can never remember which way round it is ...) Blush

We are falling back, so you'll lose an hour...

it's in early November here this year. "Summer time" as I think the English call it, seems to be a longer stretch than it was at first. At least then we had the advantage of knowing to change our smoke detector batteries then. Now it's just useless...but, I know, I promised...

Um,

we do fall back an hour, but that results in gaining an hour of sleep. Or awake. Smile

In any case, it also means that the sun will set an hour earlier, which gives me less time to do things outside with Little D. Sledding by streetlight, anyone?

Edited to add: I miss your rants. Fire at will.

A few harmless flakes working together can unleash an avalanche of destruction.

Oh yep, you're right.

I only got about 3 hours sleep last night so don't mind me.

Righty oh! Then I will complain about the difficulty in setting the time on the grandfather clock again. Not everything is digital, Mr. Mitch Daniels!

I keep the gain/loss thing straight...

...because, when I worked for the schools, I sometimes had to get up quite early. Like 6 am. As the year went on, it got harder and harder because working in the schools (especially inner city ones with dysfunctional administrations) is hard! So I just got wearier, physically and mentally.

In April, DST would hit and I'd have to get up even earlier. It usually knocked me out to get up that early and I never recovered till the school year was over.

That said, I love DST. :-)

Ugh, the digital ones are worse!

They have to be re-set every time the power goes out, which seems to happen annoyingly frequently these days ... harumph Mad.

the problem with my grandfather clock...

is getting the time chime to synchronize with the number of strikes. You aren't supposed to set those clocks back you are supposed to wind ahead until you get to the right time. Then the strike isn't right, and it doesn't auto correct. What I usually do is leave mine at Standard Time (or God's time, as it's referred to in the Mapp and Lucia books by E.F.Benson) so that more than half the year it's an hour off. It's right at Christmas time.Mad Give me a digital clock anytime--except that I love this old clock.

I'm not a fan of Daylight Savings

Here on the Anvil of the Sun, aka, Texas, DST means the evenings are too hot to do anything until too late to do anything, if you see what I mean. I'd also rather not get up before dawn if I can help it.

Ah well. If that's the worst thing I have to complain about....

We just sprang forward

And thank goodness it happened in the first weekend of the school holidays. The children I work with are very sensitive to the change and can be pretty unbearable for the first week or two after the clocks change.
I'm not a big fan myself, but one must go with the masses. Unless I just keep my clocks where I want them and move to the rhythm of my own time...which could be problematic.

I ran around all day telling everyone.

And I signed and dated as many things as I could just because it's so cool!!!

Happy belated 10/11/12, Patty :)

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

I said it to everyone

in every store, plus all my violin students. All of them were very blase about it! Thank goodness people here know how to enjoy such fun and simple things.Smile
