"Where were you when the earthquake hit?"

Embarrassing answer:

"Sitting on the toilet."

Blush

Never pulled up my knickers so fast in my life!

(We had a 4.5 quake here in Quebec, Canada just after midnight this morning.)

Was there any damage?

That's not a horrific quake, but it can move stuff around, especially if it was shallow...

Oh no! I hope there was no damage and everyone is safe diedye.

Being in the shower/bath might also have also been embarrassing! At least, you're safe though.

Oh, Wow! I didn' t know Canada has earthquakes!

Glad you're okay, though!

My embarrassing moment has to do with being in the shower when the fire alarm went off in my dorm at college. Fortunately, a friend in a neighboring residence hall let me hang out in her room till the "all clear" was given. Blush (Yes, I was able to grab a towel on the way out! Crazy)

I am SMAUG! I kill when I wish! I am strong, strong, STRONG!

Glad you're OK

And better to be "sitting on" than "head in".

I've lived on a volcano all my life...

... and I didn't even know it! Shocked

I found out a few years ago that this little "Mount" is actually a "dormant" volcano" on a faultline, which finally made the earthshakes* make sense, but just served to shoot down my delusion that I was living in a safe haven (we don't usually get extremely bad weather, unless you count the usual snowstorm and one ice storm, but we usually just get the leftovers from everyone else).

*I've been watching waaaaaaay too much Land Before time. Blush

Even more embarassing...

... was running out of the bathroom with my pants halfway up my legs... right into my father, who'd jumped out of bed when he felt the tremors. Blush

That will be a story to pass down through the generations.

They'll probably be telling it a hundred years hence.

Glad you're all right.

LOL!

Sorry diedye, but that really is funny. Laugh

I've been there - well, not the 'running into family while not dressed for polite company', but when I was about 10 I was in the loo when a decent quake hit. I wondered why Dad had hit the house with a bulldozer ... then remembered that Dad didn't *have* a bulldozer ... earthquake!

Sauron: "Mine's better."

Excellent

I believe you can now claim membership of the exclusive 'I was on the toilet' club.

I know a very bad story about a guy who was sitting on the toilet at work during a large earthquake. It is way to gross to share on the family friendly boards. Crazy

I had no idea! :-(

It must've been my favourite film as a child. I had a Littlefoot toy - and loved it to pieces!

that happened to my mom

when we had a 6.5 here years ago. Then my folks got invited to a costume party where you were supposed to dress as you were when the earthquake hit!

She debated gluing a toilet seat to the back of her bathrobe, but finally just wore the bathrobe and carried a roll of toilet paper in her hand.

What timing...

Fortunately, you didn't become "unhinged"! Tongue

Any idea how far away the quake could be felt?

Bowels of the earth...

Now that is nearly an excuse for me to tell my terrible earthquake toilet story.
But I will resist, since I am known for my demure manner.

Didn't get anything here...

....just east of Toronto... I will be with some Ottawa-folks on the weekend...I'll have to ask them if they were decent during any possible 'rattlin' of the house!

What's the matter, James? No glib remark? No pithy comeback?"

I was in a minor quake in Lima, Peru

On Christmas Day 1998, I was standing in somebody's kitchen talking on the phone with my folks when it happened. One guy I was working with was from California, and he ducked under the table instantly. I just stood there like an idiot and kept talking and commenting on how I hoped the cheap bricks they used for construction in that town held up okay.

There was a man.
There was a lady.
There was a Dragon Lord.
