Isn't this just a part of the scroll with a title slapped on?

This has been floating around for a couple of days

I don't understand how it's "international"? It's in Spanish?

And it's just been taken from the scroll. So that doesn't make it new either? What are Spain up to?! Tongue

Thanks for posting it, though, Lauryn

It's not surprising to see movie posters taken from that movie scroll - it actually lends itself to it quite nicely as this newest poster shows. It's also nice to be kept up-to-date on the marketing going on around the globe.

So, welcome and thanks again! Smile

It certainly does make for an awesome poster

Though, for some reason, I always think it's wrong not to have Bilbo on the poster. It is, after all, called "The Hobbit". Cool

Ridiculous, I know.

Is this our first peak at

Erebor? Or is that one of the misty mountains?

I understand and apreciate that they hve been throwing us this pieces of info I couldn´t resist to them but sometimes I feel this is too much

Since the scroll is in chronological order

And this scene is depicting the attack of the Wargs in the clearing, these are the Misty Mountains, rather than Erebor.

Well not to much, but I would be happier without that

People seeing the movie will asociate that image when the film would approach to the end and so the final situation of the movie, lets say, wouldn´t be a surprise, anyway...

I didn't know

......it was the last scene of the film until you said so. I thought it was just a montage picture of eagles and characters.

There was a man.
There was a lady.
There was a Dragon Lord.

Erebor

Are you sure it's the Misty Mountains? It looks like one single, solitary peak to me. It could easily be the Lonely Mountain. And if so, I quite like the look of it.

I think it is the Lonely Mountain

Strictly speaking Erebor should not be visible from that location, but this is just promotional artwork.

It could be

It would be strange for them to spend so long on this scroll (and edit it when the trilogy was announced) only to have Erebor in completely the wrong place in the scroll?

The scroll is so edited and photoshopped, that there could be multiple options:
1) It is Erebor
2) It is a single peak, part of the Misty Mountains
3) The rest of the Misty Mountains have been photoshopped out, to leave a single peak
4) It's a random mountain, to fill the background

Was it in the other scrolls?

I don't remember it, but that doesn't really mean anything. Even so, I wouldn't be surprised to see the main mountain of the films photoshopped into it.

This exact image wasn't, but the lonely mountain was.

You can see it at the end of the original scroll :

They're not exactly alike, but they could be the same mountain...
Or the one in the new scroll is the eagle aerie.

Lonely Mountain for Sure!

As Bilbo is told the story in BagEnd or over Campfires
We will see their goal..
Which is What This is..
a shot from a Flashback.

Carrock is only about 8 stories high
& since PJ wants to be as Canon as possible.
It' a just a hint so
That Movie goers know
Where Smaug lives. ..

Not anymore

I half (well 1/4) thought there might be someone on one of the eagles' backs at one point, but this larger shot makes it clear the "rider" is just a spot of darker sky.

I don't think this will literally be the last scene in the film.

There were scenes of Lothlorien shown in trailers as well, and while that was the last major rest/visit in Fellowship, it wasn't the last scene. I continue to say, I will be very surprised if An Unexpected journey actually ends in the moment the Eagles swoop down. If that is the case, then the trailer essentially shows the very last scene in the movie, which I doubt. Probably, the company will be taken at least to the Aeryie, and we may even get a little talk of Beorn by Gandalf.

The Misty Mountains

Are said to be approximately as high as 12,000 feet, according to Karen Wynn Fonstad's 'The Atlas of Middle-Earth', so it could be.

I admit that I think of any poster of The Hobbit that

doesn't have the hobbit Bilbo in it misses the mark.

I am inclined to disagree. Posters of Thorin, Gandalf,

and Smaug (though I know we won't get the latter in these times of trailer secrecy. . . OH for the 80s when the great creatures were used to sell the movie in the trailers, rather than wait and see secrets lol), because they are all MAJOR players in the story, even without the additions of Dol Guldur and even without any purely speculative additions by Jackson et al. Not all Lord of The Rings posters featured Sauron, even though he is the title character of that work. lol.

I think it is fine to have posters that feature other major characters. Bilbo isn't even going to be everyone's favourite character, and it can be argued that Gandalf and Gollum are more iconic and more easily recognizable, especially in the wake of The Rings movies. I would have much more of a problem with the story straying too far from the book, than with posters that don't show Bilbo.
