It is great!

You really get a sense of their personalities in this scroll. Also, I think this is the most blended-in the prosthetics have looked in any of the images released of the dwarves...looking at this I can believe they're dwarves & not men in make-up!

P.S. Defs worth mentioning how great Oin looks here! He's one of the dwarves who I wasn't overly crazy about at first (I thought he looked a little boring initially), but I now absolutely love the look of! Also, Nori looks fabulous! I know people still have issues with the star-hair, but I think it looks great, especially from that angle. Also, I love his clothing & facial expression.

Maybe I just haven't noticed, but his facial hair is very red. Might just be photoshopped but it would fit very well with Bombur!

Good share. And

one of the best shots of the Wizardly beard I have seen. I also see a dragon in the pipe-smoke, but one needn't read too far into that.

"Hear me, hounds of Sauron, Gandalf is here! Fly if you value your foul skins, I will shrivel you from tail to snout if you step within this circle!"

It's wonderful, and has the right air/tone to it IMO.

Half the dwarves are easy going and jolly, the other half you can tell are rearing for the quest.

Is Bifur holding a kettle of steaming soup in bare hands?

He really is demented! Cool

Loving them all. Also, Gandalf bending down to fit into the picture is nice touch. Watching the Dwarves all the time makes you forget they're supposed to be short. At this point I'm already thinking of Gandalf and the Elves as giants instead of "normal people".

But every word you say today
Gets twisted 'round some other way

Oin seems pushed to the background. In fact, have we ever seem him getting any limelight? (Unlike Kili, who is the most promoted dwarf in all the scrolls, posters, aside from Thorin).

That's because he's one of the minor dwarves

The main dwarves (who will also get the most screen time/dialogue) are: Thorin, Balin, Dwalin, Fili, Kili and Bofur.

Have Major and Minor Dwarves Been Confirmed?

If so, how? I'm sure this has been discussed in other threads but I missed them. With obvious exception of Thorin, I can't help but wish the dwarves were treated equally. I'm soft-hearted Smile.

It was suggested at one point that..

7 of the 13 Dwarves would have significant roles. My best guess would be: Thorin, Fili, Kili, Balin, Dwalin, Bofur and Gloin.

DLB He can't feel pain!

The axe in his head hit the nerve that makes him not feel pain, so that's why he's in charge of grabbing anything that could be deemed hot or sharp.

Dwarven personalitites

In thinking about The Hobbit, now that each Dwarf is differentiated from eachother, I wonder how they will function within the story.

Ori for example, seems like the bookish younger brother, will that come out in Rivendell at all? Will he be one of the first ones trying to help Bilbo with the side door outside The Lonely Mountain? Will Ori be a source of Dwarven knowledge maybe in culture or language? He looks like a monk after all.

Major/Minor is based on # of lines of Dialogue &..

Screentime..but as I believe some of what Thorin says in
the Book
could be thrown to different Characters.

Also..Campfire Stories could flesh out characters between
Trollshaws/ Rivendale/Eagle Rescue/ Spiders n Mirkwood...not nessicasarry Flashbacks.
But quick backstories.
Also any # of these guys will VO Trolls, Goblins, Eagles, Spiders..Roac..Thrush,..?
?
This quessing Game(Riddle?) will only be Explained in the Credits!

Love this new scroll

But it brings a question to my mind..Which trio of dwarves (Bifur, Bofur, Bombur and Dori, Nori, Ori) will be given more time even though they are mostly minor characters among the company. I'm beginning to think that it'll be the 3 B's who will get most of the minor character time. Ori and Oin i think will be getting the least screen time and/or dialogue.

I think Bombur, and Ori, and Bifur (if Bifur is the Starfish haired clepto)

Bombur for obvious reasons. Ori because it is his handwriting cataloguing events in Moria. He is quiet, but the still picture in the vlogs of he and Sir Ian suggests that this gentle, quiet, thoughtful dwarf may be played as more endearing to Bilbo and Gandalf than some of the others, save of course Balin.
