Happy 90th Birthday Saruman...err...Christopher Lee!

Living legend Sir Christopher Lee was born in Belgravia, Westminster, England on May 27th 1922 - making him exactly 90 years old today. We all know his work as Saruman in The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings films, but did you know Sir Lee holds the world record for most film acting roles ever - a whopping 275 films! (and he just keeps going) We at TheOneRing.net would like to offer a good pint of well-earned ale as a toast to a true master of his craft! A better portrayal of Saruman there will never be! Cheers!

And for a great read, including some wonderful LOTR related trivia, check the 90 reasons Christopher Lee is awesome at MovieFone.com. [Read on]

Happy birthday, Sir, and many blessings to you!

May the road rise up to meet you,
may the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and the rain fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Thank you for all your great performances, and for possibly the best Saruman ever!

The man has four forthcoming films!

The two Hobbit parts, of course, but he also did a voice role in Frankenweenie and has Night Train to Lisbon in post-production for a 2013 release. May we all be so productive at that age!

There's a great interview that Sir Christopher did with Forbes near his 90th birthday.

Here it is, if you're interested. I truly hope when I'm 90 (if I'm lucky enough to get there...) that I have a mind as quick as his.

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

WOW

That was one great list. I thought I knew a lot about the guy but there are lots of things I still dont know it seems! Most astounding thing: finding out that not only is Lee a heavy metal fan, but he recorded a "symphonic metal" album in 2009 (87!?!) ..I now have this insane urge to check out "Charlemegne." (esp after hearing the clips!--"I spilled the blood of Saxon men!" )...will have this stuck in my head all night--I always wanted to hear him in full majestic opera mode! wow! Shocked

Look up "Sir Christopher Getting The Spirit Of Metal Award At The Golden Gods" on YouTube----the way he swings his cane..this might just be the most adorable, and drop-dead COOLEST thing I have ever seen... ("I'll be leaving now on my motorbike, with a case of Jeagermeister, and a copy of Metal Hammer...")

I add my well-wishes to those above. The very happiest of birthdays, and I hope you enjoy many more, Sir! And I know that a trip to NZ might be too much, but I hope we get to see you at the British premiere of TH at least!
