British writer on "Tintin" case

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - British scribe Steven Moffat, best known for writing the new "Doctor Who" series, is turning his hand to "Tintin," the DreamWorks movie trilogy collaboration from Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg. Tintin, created by late Belgian artist Herge, is a young reporter and world traveler who is aided in his adventures by his faithful dog Snowy. He later was joined by such colorful characters as Captain Haddock, Professor Cuthbert Calculus and bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson. The books, hugely popular in Europe, have been translated into 50 languages with more than 200 million sold. Jackson and Spielberg are each directing an installment, with the helmer of the third movie to be determined.

So looking forward to Tintin...

I've been reading those books since I was tiny. I'm definitely more than a little worried how they will turn out (especially Spielberg's), but fingers crossed....

What's the matter, James? No glib remark? No pithy comeback?"

Tintin

I'm a use fan of Tintin, well unknown in the US. Anyway Steven Moffat (if I'm right) also created and wrote the serie "Coupling". One of my favorite show out there (not the US version that did not work at all, but the English one). Looking forward to 2009. Thierry

Moffat's also been writing the BEST Dr. Who episodes EVER!!

He's won two consecutive Hugos for Best Dramatic Presentation (Short Form) for his fabulous Dr. Who work (The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances and The Girl in the Fireplace) and will probably win another one next year for the completely brilliant, recent episode Blink.

I'm not a big Tintin fan, but I think I've just been convinced to see the movie.

A god and interseting choice

Sounds interesting. I'm a big fan of Tintin and think that PJ and perhaps even Spielberg is the right persons to make these movies.

Steven Moffat has done a superb job on the Doctor Who episodes that he received an HUGO for and I think that he can be the right person to pen the script for these movies.

oh, those are my favorite episodes!

Close second are the ones written by Douglas Adams for Tom Baker's Doctor.

Can't wait to see "Blink." Netflix is a season behind.
