Stephen Fry goes to NZ tomorrow...

A new entry from Stephen Fry on twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/stephenfry). Sort of Hobbit business. If it was posted already, just delete this topic.

Quote
Flying from Cape Town to Jo'burg to Sydney to NZ tomorrow. Will be Tuesday by the time I land in Wellington. Hobbitry beckons.

Far over the misty mountains cold

To dungeons deep and caverns old

We must away ere break of day

To seek the pale enchanted gold.

Yay!

I'm *so* looking forward to seeing film of Fry and PJ bouncing their humour off each other. :D

(And perhaps they can also talk about the much-delayed Dam Busters script while Fry is down here...)

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

1st Unit isn't shooting though, right?

2nd unit is apparently filming in England with Ian Holm, Elijah Wood and Christopher Lee, and some shooting may occur in New Zealand as well (as Moahunter has informed us he may be shooting in August), but 1st Unit doesn't resume until September...meaning Stephen's probably going for more costume fittings and/or general discussions with PJ.

Still cool though...Wink

I would rather be watching Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" and Ridley Scott's "Prometheus"...it's going to be a long few years.

Moahunter is shooting

Laketown scenes, so it's possible SF may be shooting at the same time. Perhaps they're doing crowd shots for the dragon attack and some of the Master's escape attempt. Dialogue scenes between the Master and Thorin and close-ups might be shot later.

Fun to speculate, isn't it? Smile

"Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them.
Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you."

I think the 2nd unit might be the September 5th date.

Peter was saying at Comic Con last week that they resume shooting in 3 weeks or so, so they could potentially start up sometime in August on the main unit.

Sounds probable...

Yep, it does help the years we have been/will be waiting for these movies pass a bit more quickly. Tongue

Ah...

Makes sense they'd still plug right along, seeing as they need Part 1 completed by the end of next year.

Haha!

I love Fry's tweets. That's hilarious about people thinking he's James May. Laugh
I love his enthusiasm for the people at WETA. It sounds like a truly great place to visit.
