Peter Jackson receives his Knighthood.

"I feel as though I'm accepting it on behalf of the industry," Sir Peter said.

Full story here.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Welcome "Sir" Peter Jackson!

OMG!!! After petitions and years of waiting... he's finally being honoured for his work. Imho, not just for the films, but also for his intervention for NZ ecology, mentoring young filmmakers, encouraging organ donations and so much more. This is such great news!!!

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

Too cool. And well deserved.

His parents would really have been proud, I'll bet. First the Oscars, now this.

Congratulations, Sir Peter...

Now that he's been knighted, does that make Smaug officially, "Pete's Dragon"? <runs away laughing>

Hurrah!

I can't see it changing him very much though - which is good.

Congratulation Sir Peter.

So who all, have been knighted from the films? Ian,Ian,Viggo and now Peter. Oh and Colbert was knighted with Andúril by Queen Noor. So he is kinda one of us. I’m I missing anyone?

That's wonderful, but wait...

wasn't there something about PJ becoming Sir Peter in January?

so what just happened?
was the ceremony only a couple days ago?

Yes,

the announcement was in January (New Year's Honours list) but the investiture was this week.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

It looks like he's combed his hair.

and ... maybe even trimmed it - and his beard?

So it must have been more important than the Oscars - I don't think he combed his hair for them!

Cool

Congratulations Sir Peter!

They went in, and Sam shut the door.
But even as he did so, he heard suddenly,
deep and unstilled,
the sigh and murmur of the Sea upon the shores of Middle-earth.

Wouldn't it have been nice

if the Governor-General had done a quick switch and knighted him with Anduril? :)

Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."

Congratulations!

I didn't actually know that you could be knighted in NZ (until January, of course)... was quite sure that you could only get knighted still in England.
