Interest item for fans of Armitage as Bard

A literary website has posted an interview with Richard Armitage about his reading history and favorite books - The Hobbit and LOTR feature highly. The link is:

It's an iteresting read and I also think RA would make a classic Bard (in the way Sean Bean did for Boromir) - great range and a very good 'moody' presence.

Yep, he's got my Bard vote

Know him from Guy of Gisborne and enjoying him on Spooks just now. There is a huge thread elsewhere in support of him but when you read the article he seems to be a busy chap so I don't think there will much time is his schedule. Shame!

I was so excited when I found that article! I had heard he was a Tolkien fan-- but now we have it from his own mouth! Whoo-hoo! :D

RA for Bard.

he certainly has my vote for Bard. i've loved him since i saw him in,
'The Impressionists'.
it's great to hear too, that he is a Tolkien fan.
Hmmm... do you ever imagine that he may have fancied himself as
playing any one of the characters as he was reading the books? If he did, i
wonder which ones he thought he would enjoy playing, and could justice to.
just a thought, i know we'll never know. but i really do hope that he will be considered
for Bard.

Actually, I think he said somewhere in that interview that he was playing on of Tolkien's Elves in a school play, which lead him to read the book in the first place. But I'm really hoping he saw himself as Bard when he read the Hobbit ;)

Okay I can see him as Bard

I used to be a die-hard Butler fan, but I have been enjoying Richard on Spooks and I can see what he would bring to Bard. He's very interesting to watch on screen.
Fingers crossed!!

Will we ever get some news????!!!!

He can be

I like for Bard Gerard Butler or Richard Armitage Smile

But if Glorfindel is in the movie, that would be a perfect role for Richard too.
