Some real-world Tolkien locations revealed (perhaps)

Forum members might be familiar with the app "What3Words", which divides the map of the world into 3-meter squares and assigns each one a three-word name. It can be useful if you want to say where something is (for example, communicating with emergency services after an accident, or just arranging to meet someone else at a festival or other busy outdoor event. Or, being able to find your car in a large and featureless carpark...).

Some of the names are rather entertaining (at least to me...)

It turns out that ///speak.friend.enter is a location near Leicester.

Is that the real-world location of Moria? Or where Tolkien really hid the Nether Appendices of LOTR?

(As it is in the middle of a railway line, it would be most unwise to go and look!)

Similarly there's a ///courage.unlikely.places (which wasn't where I expected...)

And this is far too good a displacement activity way to procrastinate over Christmas preparations... Wink
