Welcome to another Fiesta gathering! Here's hoping everyone is healthy and keeping safe.
B.G and I are 10 days into our 2-week post-cruise isolation period and feel great. Colorado has a state-wide stay-at-home order until April 10, but after our two weeks ends we can at least see friends and family. 
I was musing the other day as to whether there was a phobia about running out of toilet paper, lol. When I googled it and it was the second suggested link, I figured: Bingo! it turns out it's Endrollphobia. Get it? 
So, to cheer us all up during these trying times, I'm posting a link to a site listing funny phobias. For example, did you know that Turophobia is a fear of cheese? (I definitely don't have that one  ). A few more good ones:

Metrophobia - fear of poetry (seems like that one was mis-named)

Might I have a cappuccino, please? I'm still working at the school, in my lonely library, taking requests for loaner laptops for families that are finding their own computers over-taxed by their kids having to use them, or unable to properly use the online software the teachers are assigning the kids. Got my disinfectant wipes and spray bottle handy!
The silneldors send their love to everyone, they've been able to get out for walks in this lovely weather. He sent me a pic of the core of a toilet-paper roll, suspended in water like a seed, with a little "roll" sprouting out of it, a "grow-you-own-paper"!
I do believe your cruise ship treated everyone the best they could, so you could all arrive home safe and sound! Any tidbits from your escapade that you could share with us, Altaira?

Mmmm, that sounds so good I think I'll join you! Do you work a full day or are there designated hours people know they can call in or come by? It's great that you're doing that, plus it gets you out of the house.
I've had a bit of follow-up work to do that will probably go through early next week - no deadline but I want to get it done. Plus, we've been putting together another March Madness tournament for the Home Page - this year's will be Best Movie Scenes in various categories. Should be fun! Anyway, soon I hope to start a regular-type thread about TORnsibs' travels and will post about our trips during those.

GREAT CHOICE! Phobias are SO FUNNY! I have Ablutophobia!!! A fear of cleaning!!! I should have named Pickle "Bluto"... which was one of my considerations at the time ;) The Fickle Finger of Fate strikes again!
I'm SO happy B.G. and you are doing so well with your isolation and especially that you're feeling good :D Most excellent!
All is well here, too. Although, my county had its first 2 cases show up earlier this week. 2 college students came home from Spring Break with the virus. One returned to their room in the dorms on campus and the other returned to a private home. *sigh* Spring Break. There hasn't been any testing around here at all, so there's no way of telling if we have some dangerous areas.
I'm a week into my home isolation. I started a few days before Michigan joined the ranks. Just before that my only trips were to the store to stock up. It's hitting the worst down where the majority of my family lives in Oakland County (near Detroit).
I think I'll grab a chocolate milkshake and toast you all as we forge on together! Thanks for taking just great care of us, Altaira! STAY SAFE!

*sips* Thanks! I'm in for full-day, when I'm not taking care of computers or other problems (like making sure student login accounts are accurate and re-setting those pesky forgotten passwords) there's plenty of library book maintenance to be done.

is supposed to be cool-ish (40's), but sunny, the kind of weather I don't mind at all for nice walks. We've got plenty of trails around here.

I join you at the end of a gloriously sunny (but slightly nippy) spring day; I'm going out into the garden shortly to watch the International Space Station pass overhead - now there's a classic example of social distancing! I do hope you all stay well, wherever you are; this juggernaut of a virus seems to be rolling unstoppably over every part of the world. In the UK, the peak is reckoned to be mid-April; I'm being very careful about hand-washing etc and we have all been instructed to keep trips out to the shops for esentials to an absolute minimum. My grandsons seem to have adapted quite well to lessons at home; the good weather has helped, as they can go and run round the garden, kick a football, bounce on the trampoliine etc to let off steam. Also - when they're not arguing! - they're company for each other. If the weather changes they might not be as comfortable with it all. None of us will be, but we just have to deal with it.
Forgot to mention the phobias - good grief! There are some strange ones there. I thik mine would be afabricopobia - fear of not having enough patchwork fabric!
Coffee at this time of night would keep me from my sleep, so I'll stick with tea! (and later a scotch, maybe - I have a half bottle of Highland Park in the cupboard. Yum...)Cheers, folks - stay safe! Sending a wave to silneldor and family too.

by colleges and/or universities on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line. Add in the military sites in the region and all the commuting government employees, and it's no surprise that even with the little bit of testing done outside of the major cities there are positive cases on both sides of the Mason-Dixon. I'm sure it's actually worse than the map reflects, but from the official report as of lunchtime today, with contrast adjusted and Gettysburg added as a reference point :
this represents Pennsylvania's known 2,218 positive cases spread across 50 of our 67 counties.
And this is why the rangers are trying to force the teeming hordes of panic-driven ill-prepared hikers off the Appalachian Trail, and make them go home. Because crowding like sardines into trail shelters at night with all the other fools who had the same idea, and going into nearby towns for food by day is a terrible, terrible plan.
We've been staying home since before they closed the schools two weeks ago, unless we have to go out in public. People here have been taking it seriously, but are still as polite and friendly as we can be from a safe distance. Even the young kids on bikes in the park were spacing themselves appropriately when we drove by. More dogs are getting to enjoy new walking routes, based on the foot traffic on our road.
Ice cream is harder to find than toilet paper, so a virtual milkshake sounds like a great idea on this warm day! =)

Our weather has been nice here too - typical Spring blue skies and slightly cooler temps - perfect!
A fellow scotch fan! I don't think I've ever had Highland Park. Shame on me! I'll have to give it a try. I'm currently on a Glengoyne kick. Yummy stuff.

Hi everyone. New Zealand went into lockdown just before midnight on Wednesday. Lockdown seems to mean different things in different parts of the world, let me elaborate a little: we don't leave our homes other than for medical care or a brief grocery shop (one person only; limited numbers at a time in store, with distances observed), or for exercise, when you don't stop and talk to anyone but a housemate. The only businesses still open to the general public are grocery stores, pharmacies, some banking services, and animal supplies - no takeaway food, for example. Everyone is working from home except those in essential services (transport, food production and supply, medical services, animal care, couriers, and no doubt a few others I've forgotten) where working from home is not possible - and there are strict rules about safety for those workers.
The Mr and I are better off than most people. We live in the countryside, with lots of open space; no kids and no elderly parents (that would have been such a worry if we were still watching over them); we already work from home most (Mr)/all (me) of the time.
There's overwhelming support for this lockdown that's generally transcending politics and philosophies in a very refreshing way. Of course there's a long road to travel, but I think most of us are feeling hopeful for our country - I know I am. Some times living on an island at the end of the world has its advantages.
Apart from that: we're well and happy, it's a sunny day, the grass is growing and the sheep are happy, and I've made orange and ginger scones for our morning tea.
And one last thing: I watched this video this morning and smiled *so* hard. Absolutely joyful.

Well, I've had my first week of working from home and it went pretty smoothly, although I had to work off the tiny screen of the work laptop as it doesn't have enough ports for me to connect it to my personal large screen. But given the bigger situation going on, that's a tiny issue!
We ended the work week with drinks via Zoom, which was lovely. We also have a team meeting each morning, and being able to see the people you're talking to has proved to be really important for combating the negatives of isolation. In fact, I've heard more from my friends and family in this last week than I usually do! It's been great - and a reminder that I need to be more mindful (when life gets back to normal) about making time for the people who are important to me.
Autumn is taking hold here. The mountain even had some light snow this week so the temperatures dropped sharply, but it's warm as long as the sun is out. I'm still picking green and orange capsicums and my Brandywine tomato plant has given me two fruit so far, with two more on the way - exactly double my previous record number of fruit from this variety.

Yes, baking has taken off hugely around here. Flour, baking soda, etc are among the items the supermarkets are struggling to keep up with demand for. People are [re-]discovering their skills!

A great way to keep up human contact while staying home. Mr Kimi's been using Zoom for work meetings, and is talking about setting it up to connect with friends - the most tech-friendly ones, anyway. A bit too hard to help the others set it up when we can't be there in person.
We still have tomatoes doing well, and for the first time ever, I've successfully grown aubergines (eggplants)! We're planning to make moussaka tonight with a couple.

But because it's a heritage variety (i.e. old), it's very tasty - quite meaty, actually. I'm not a big fan of tomatoes so the low yield suits me.
Yesterday I was video-chatting with my sister while she was walking on the coastal walkway, when a relative walked past so I had a shouty-chat with her (standing 2m away) via the phone as well! One of the stranger catch-ups so far.
