about 6 inches so far looks like [In reply to] Can't Post

there were a couple of inches when I arrived. Supposed to get some more tonight.

I've worked through all the edits on my book from my editor so far - she's gotten about 3/4 of the way - and I've put together the first draft of a presentation I'll be giving in July, so it's been a productive weekend.

Plus I binged all of "The Mandalorian," which I loved! Jon Favreau has created something beautiful here.

I am a dreamer of words, of written words. I think I am reading; a word stops me. I leave the page. The syllables of the words begin to move around Ö The words take on other meanings as if they had the right to be young.

A blessing that you could all be together. [In reply to] Can't Post

With five adult children and their spouses, that's a small miracle in itself!

I'm sorry for your loss, Dernwyn, but so glad that it was peaceful and surrounded by love.

It's great to have goals! [In reply to] Can't Post

We came *so* close to taking a White Island tour a couple of years ago: booked and paid for, and we were staying in Whakatane the night before. But the weather packed up overnight, and our tour was cancelled.

Rangitoto makes a great outing - lots to see, and not overly challenging as long as one doesn't try to break any speed records. We went there once *decades* ago, and then again more recently (hmm, "more recently" was actually six years ago, I find now that I've looked it up). The vegetation has increased hugely in those decades - the crater was quite barren on our earlier visit.

Description and some pictures of our Rangitoto outing here.

Condolences [In reply to] Can't Post

on the passing of your father-in-law. Thank goodness it was peaceful.
As an early widow, I hope that your mother-in-law has nearby family and friends to console her, especially a few months down the road after the initial flurry subsides.

Yes, correct! Feeling okay now, though I'm told half of the LA folks get sick coming back from the festival every year--hoping I avoid it! I have to drive around a lot while there, which I'm a bit nervous for since it could be really snowy.

Thank you!

Huulllloooo, my friends! [In reply to] Can't Post

I am SO sorry that my visits to the boards have been so infrequent. I've been very busy of late. Crazy

Some big news! I've joined (as a co-host) a YouTube channel called Here Be Dragons. I met my co-hosts through our shared love of Game of Thrones, but we do livestreams about all kinds of different things! We just finished covering Season 4 of The Expanse and we're also in the midst of talking about The Mandalorian (we're talking about the last four episodes this Sunday).

I've been meeting and befriending SO many new people through the channel and our larger Twitter community. It's been a roller coaster ride the past few months! Smile

I'll be doing my panels at Con of Thrones (that I told you all about previously) with my co-hosts. So now we'll be giving those talks as an official team! Heart

I hope you guys are all doing great. I assume you all saw the casting announcements today for Amazon's LotR series. So exciting!!! Smile

Bless his heart. It's wonderful that you were all there with him. I'm sure it was a great comfort. It sounds like he was an amazing person who touched a lot of lives in a positive way. Now you'll all carry those positive and wonderful memories of him in your hearts.

*Hugs* HeartHeart

I just found and watched a few minutes of your recent show and it looks great! How exciting for you and how fun to be able to the the Con as a team of friends. Keep up the good work, and do drop by more often and let us know how things are progressing. Smile

Oh yay! [In reply to] Can't Post

Smile

Thank you so much for seeking it out (and for the kind words! Heart).

I admit, I was quiet this week for the first 15-20 minutes, before I came out of my shell. Blush I'm getting used to talking on the livestream, but I still have a little bit of trouble letting go of my shyness at times. My new friends are helping me in that regard.

Also got to get out of the habit of using filler words, lol. I've caught myself saying "um" and "you know" alot. Tongue But I'll get better.

Honestly, it's just been so much fun expanding my social circle and being surrounded by so many wonderfully supportive people. Smile

I still can't believe I'm going to be doing panels at the Con later this year. I never would have believed that this time last year. It would have terrified me. But now (nervous as I admittedly still am), I can't wait! Cool

He was. [In reply to] Can't Post

Looking back at his life now, he was amazing, putting five kids through college on an industrial plumber's pay, and doing tons of volunteer work (his retirement "job" was helping build Habitat for Humanity homes). What a blessing he was to so many. Heart
