what the avatars are saying about the person they're attached to? Except for Tampa Phil's, of course - we already knew he was a rascal with a comedic talent for trouble.

I like fresh, clean and new every single time. I don't shed tears when I (or most anybody else) removes their used 'small clothes'. The boards were like that, except they were undies that somebody had worn for years and years. Sad?! Not exactly.

Some of us have lost some features we really liked, in exchange for gaining features we really don't care about or even actively dislike. I'm willing to accept that this is a necessary evil, to solve problems with the server, but it doesn't help to liken the old boards to used underwear! Ewww!

What's wrong with clunky, huh? This place looks so different! I thought I was ready for the upgrade, but I wasn't. I'm keeping the link to the old boards in my toolbar for the time being. Just to visit. I'm sure I'll soon love these boards, of course. I'm just balking a bit. I wasn't expecting that! Glad it's not just me.

I feel sad. I'm not much for change, personally. I always get used to it though, and then I can't imagine having things any other way! I suppose nostalgia is inevitable. These new boards sure are pretty and shiny-new though. Cheers, wolfranger

Change is tough. Getting used to something new is tough. Hopefully, this will feel like home soon, but it doesn't yet. I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be bookmarking yet.

Estel we call it, that is 'trust.' It is not defeated by the ways of the world, for it does not come from experience, but from our nature and First Being. If we are indeed the Eruhin, the Children of the One, then He will not suffer Himself to be deprived of His own, not by any enemy, not even by ourselves. In any sense of that phrase So I've got to agree with Aerin, the analogy hardly works. I think Aerlinn's car analogy is more suitable.

That's a fair analogy. LOL. I can't say I miss the old boards at all. These new ones are great!
Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament... There you will find romance, glory, honour, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves on earth, and more than that: Death: by the divine paradox, that which ends life, and demands the surrender of all, and yet by the taste (or foretaste) of which alone can what you seek in your earthly relationships (love, faithfulness, joy) be maintained, or take on that complexion of reality, of eternal endurance, which every man's heart desires. --J.R.R. My wife and I lived in a rented house when we first got married. The distance to our neighbors kitchen from ours was less than the distance from our bedroom to our kitchen - that's how close the houses were to one another. We could hear the neighbors arguing. Also, a stream was located behind the house. This was not a cute babbling brook, but was a stream that handled runoff from rains from the foothills 'way up yonder' - every storm, the cute little stream would turn into a torrent, and we would stand out there with our umbrellas nervously looking at the height of the stream, thinking somehow that by watching it really close, we will prevent it from flooding, as we were having record rains that year. The laundry room was in the big ol' drafty ugly garage. And when it was raining, we would get soaked as we went back and forth to do the laundry. As we finally purchased our current home, and were beginning to move out, my wife drew a picture of the old house, and had the house saying "WAAAH! I've loved you and cared for you and comforted you and now you're leaving me for somehouse else!" That captured the feeling perfectly. We loved that old place... because it was our first place... our first holidays were there... the first visits of relatives... .......but, stepping back, the new house is a lot better. Remember >>this<< commercial.

I agree with JPB, it's just like moving to a new house. No matter how awful the old house is, it was home for a long time and it's hard to let go. At the same time, the new house is wonderful, but it will take some time to find new places for my stuff and get used to the new traffic patterns. I do have some anthropomorphic moments when I think the old boards are missing us. But the spirit that inhabits the old boards have moved with all of us, so there's nothing left - even the memories are here.

Oh yes. I'm an old dog who doesn't learn new tricks very easily, and all these new features are a little overwhelming. I'm seriously wondering whether I'll be able to participate as much here. (Not that I've been participating a lot on the old boards recently, with the pressure of work and all, but hopefully y'all know what I mean.) I knew the old boards. I knew how to navigate them. I miss those plain, unadorned, lists. But seeing all the familiar names here does make it seem less intimidating. *stiffens quivering lip* I'll catch on, I'm sure, and enjoy the new TORn as much as I enjoyed the old one.

It's all dernwyn's doing . Well, it is another chance to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. You must be fairly exhaustiated yourself. I think this will be fun once we all find a way to find and open all the doors. Thank you for your devotion to all of us(with roses,Honeysuckle and spring Hemlock greenery).
"Tolkien, like Lewis, believed that, through story, the real world would become a more magical place, full of meaning. We see its patterns and colors in a fresh way. The recovery of a true view of the world applies both to individual things, like hills and stones, and to the cosmic - the depths of space and time itself. For in sub-creation, in Tolkien's view, there is a "survey" of space and time. Reality is captured on a miniature scale. Through stories like The Lord of the Rings, a renewed view of things is given, illuminating the homely, the spiritial, the physical, and the moral dimensions of the world." Tolkien and C.S. I preferred (a)Magpie's (from another thread): it's like a new pair of shoes. Where maybe you needed new shoes and you're glad to have them, but they take some getting used to. (And especially if you're a hobbit not used to wearing shoes . . .)

all those posts hadn't been lost on Reunion Fiesta Friday. That just hit me so hard that I'm thinking, okay, that did NOT work. If these long-promised new boards ever materialize I'll be so ready for them. And I was. If all my TORNsibs weren't here I would have to re-evaluate, as it is, they are not only here, but their posts won't be lost in cyberMorder, either.

I don't know about you, Patty, but I think I'll be more involved on these boards overall, since there will likely be more threads that interest me.
