He was his usual charismatic self [In reply to]

...but the play wasn't one of Terrence McNally's best. And Bebe Neuwirth, whom I ordinarily love, was miscast in my opinion. But yeah, Lee in cravats and those tight-fitting 19th-century pants -- MAJOR SWOOOOON!!! HeartHeartHeartAnd his voice -- oh lawd, I'm going to be down on the floor for a while now, ain't I? Crazy

But, um, no, I didn't go backstage -- I was with family members (during our Christmas visit to NYC) and they were desperate to get something to eat afterwards. Unsure

Hmm you were good not to dump the family [In reply to]

I would have been tempted to point them in the direction of the nearest deli. It must have been freezing there in December. I grew up in Philly and my paternal grandparents lived in Queens, so I know how cold it can be there. Did he tower over everyone?
The Golden Age for all of us could not be there.

If I recall correctly [In reply to]

from one of Lurker's SCs, 401 is the highest number of posts in one thread? Not 100% sure though. So, still some work to do before we reach that. Laugh

Truth to tell [In reply to]

I'm not much for breaking the Fourth Wall. If someone else in my theater party had wanted to go backstage, I would gladly have gone along, but it felt awkward to me to do it by myself. (I know, I'm strange that way...) Besides, if I had gone alone, who would have been there to pick me up off the floor if I fainted straight away upon meeting Lee, or slap me when I can't stop blubbering??! Crazy

There was another member of the Golden Age cast, Will Rogers (no, really, that's his name), who was about the same height as Lee. He's very good-looking too! Wink But I don't think I've seen him in anything before or since.

You're right that TA Thread I had a total of 402 posts, but after that, according to Lurker's spreadsheet (posted somewhere above in this thread), the next highest number is 266 in TAXXXI, so we're on track now to making TAXXXIII the thread with the second-highest post count! W00t woot!!! Laugh

I suspect he does [In reply to]

...though of course I don't know for sure. But there are some pictures floating around somewhere showing him wearing some pretty heavy-duty glasses when he was younger. Why do you ask? Do you think this affects what we see as the color of his eyes?
