*looking mainly at the black shirt, in the pic with the text* Heart

Hmm. I did mention a rumour of HACF showing in Australia 'later in the year'. Checked back on that rumour - it was actually from June, and there's been no update since, and now it's November. It's available digitally from Amazon but my internet speed isn't good enough (yet. long story). I hope to heck it's in the new season's viewing that always starts here in February!

Like the beard. Though I'm not a fan of hirsuteness, per se. Evil

LOL - speaking of expectation, I kinda thought we'd get some of this tripping on the stairs in the EE, much to LP's amused chagrin, no doubt.

And speaking of funny, I can't now find a certain post / link that completely tickled me a few days ago, but I picked up these two images from it:

Gems of Lasgalen [In reply to]

Quote
So let me get this straight? Thranduil commissioned Thror to set the Jewels of Lasgalen, heirlooms of his people, into a necklace for his wife. Thror refused to hand the completed work over, and somewhen along the line, she passed. And he's now so seriously wanting the necklace back he mobilised the troops to go fetch it. But didn't the powers that be also say the necklace is the last thing to remind him of his wife? How is it something that he associated so strongly with the missus if he was still having it made when she died?

No, I can understand this. If the necklace was still being made and she hadn't yet worn it, it may yet be deeply charged with sentiment.
Perhaps it wasn't a 'surprise' gift, and he had promised it to her - maybe they had designed it together, she had expressed her love / delight for the starlight in the gems, and/or it had symbolic value for their marriage. There are many reasons it could have incredible emotional value to both of them, and so he must have it returned to his possession, perhaps as a silent promise to her.

If the Gems have as much attachment as, say, the Arkenstone to Thorin - much deeper than common sentiment, or as a valuable treasure, I can see all his motives. But it will be vital for PJ to get this across, to diffuse the 'bad dude' element that's grown up around movie-Thranduil. If the audience can understand his need, 'misunderstanding' attitudes may soften.

Gosh. Aren't Tolkien's great works so much about the pursuit of shiny things! Smile
