Although I am a Thranduil/LP thrall for life - I love how he inserts cool Thorin items... (I would be Thorin's slave, were it not for Thranduil)...

Why thank you! - but IMO, Thorin/Thranduil was inevitable

after a jaw-dropping compelling tension-laden confrontation scene - first time I saw DOS don't think I breathed through the whole thing - partly because I was worried Thranduil was going to do something really bad. And gotta admit Lurker and others are pretty tolerant of the dwarf infiltration, probably 'coz they understand having your heart taken but still being a kind of CHEATER LOL - unless Thorin is around of course. Elves are supposed to be wise and all that. 'Course these are MIRKWOOD elves - also they just don't get the magnetic power of Thorin's hair. Got my fingers crossed for another "lively interchange" between these two, which actually sounds like a real possibility re the Empire article - tho of course probably just gets the maddened Thorin more maddened *sigh*.

And all the other pics and art are really nice as well. I found this piece of art the other day And you've probably already seen this, but I like it so here's one for the Thorin fans Edit: Whoa, very large images. Anyone knows how to crop them?

So you can adjust the pixel width, height, and .jpg quality saved. Cropping actually cuts off stuff which is useful at times. This is one online resizer I use time to time: http://www.webresizer.com/resizer/ But there are others if you Google "online image resize". If you have PS, there is a "size for web" feature, too so you can match TORn image guide: http://www.amagpiesnest.com/a/torn/PostingImages/. With Gimp click on "advanced options" when saving a .jpg tho I always resize in Gimp before exporting as far as I remember, because it's not just the pixel width and height, most of these tools let you adjust the .jpg QUALITY from 100 to very low. Which saves size (needs to be below 45 kb for TORn), but too low of a quality and the image looks fuzzy. Suspect these WONDERFUL originals will get taken down - they already took down the dwarf cartoon LOL you posted - so: This artist does wonderful work! And I am still SO impressed with that "snowy Thranduil" you posted

And hope you are checking http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/ for all its little tidbits. *Crossing fingers* the Crucible was taped for DVD too - because think RA's schedule re BOFA will explode. Think folks were MISSING Thorin and Bilbo at SDCC - never mind all the DWARVES. Anyway, very nice of you to post, as I do watch the show, and ending it like that would be maddening *cough*

I could only watch the first couple of episodes and just couldn't get into it, but glad for those of you who do like it that you won't be left hanging. And that's a yes on http://www.richardarmitagenet.com/ (and http://richardarmitagecentral.co.uk/news/). I find that they often have Hobbit news before other sites (even TORn). Plus all the Crucible and Into the Storm stuff right now. Fingers also crossed for a Crucible DVD.

Looks like we've been busy *yay* Now that tw5 is out of the way, time to work on tipping the thread For a start: (GIF!licky)
I'm a lurker. Fan of both books and movies; it seems I have severely misnamed myself... for the moment. Appreciating Thranduil, thread by thread: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X (Tis true! More appreciation threads for Thranduil exist than ME movies) Thrall Wars!: What business do Elves, Dwarves or Men(?) have with drooling thralls, yea, with smartphones in tow, unto the slopes of Erebor? ... oh, yes, the Hobbit's lingering in some shadows, ever ready to swoop to the hairy rescue. Take cover if you dare! Teh partsies: Prologue (aka the 'tater-mash of whatever came before), two, three, three-appendix: An Unexpected Flashback by Kerewyn, four, five (new, posted 20 August) "BoFA"= The Battle || "BotFA"/"tBofTA" = The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies ======= Middle-earth dispatches out of the lurkmirk

And all these goodies. I am taking tomorrow off work to vegetate as I have a cold, and have been sneezing all over my keyboard, to my work colleagues' disgust. So time to catch up with some reading (and maybe some writing, if I can stay upright and brain is functioning)

LOL I like the '19 reasons why Thranduil is the real star of DOS' best too I like the look Thorin gives at #6. Yep I'm sure that is exactly what Thorin must have been thinking when Thranduil came right there in his face *wow you're pretty*. He probably held his breath during that entire conversation. That's why he was so upset, he nearly suffocated from the sheer epicness that was only inches away from him.

I've been reading former TA threads, and I'm currently on the first page of thread #6. It's a heck of a lot of reading, but worth a while I really thought the first TA thread must have started somewhere last year, but I was surprised to find out it wasn't until late January that the thread was originated. Wow, you really had a lot to discuss! Anyway, I believe the topic of the facemelt/scars arose in topic 4 or 5. I'm not sure if the topic was discussed further in the other threads that I have yet to read But I found an interesting piece of info on the imdb trivia, saying this about the scars: Thranduil's sudden scars reflect a little-emphasized facet of J.R.R. Tolkien's lore: elves' "Fëa" (a metaphysical concept analogous translatable as "soul") occasionally influences the "Hröa" (the fleshly, physical body), particularly under moments of extreme stress. This can manifest as extreme physical changes that reflect the mind's state, in this case deep war scars. AND The sudden scars on Thranduil's face are a creation of the film adaptation. According to J.R.R. Tolkien's texts and books, the last battle where Thranduil fought was the last alliance at the end of the Second Age (about 3000 years earlier), where Sauron was defeated. The scars, a creative liberty of the writers, represent a symbol of Thranduil's endurance by war . I'm not sure if you have already read this, but I thought it gave a perfectly plausible explanation as to why those scars were there (for a few seconds). According to this info, Thranduil's scars aren't physical but more emotional/spiritual and during great moments of stress/pain he can summon those memories. Anyway I thought it was a need piece of info that, for me, settled the matter on whether or not those scars were/were not real and if so if he was just trying to cover them up the whole time with his Elven magic. I didn't really think he was the type to cover up his face constanly, afraid to show his scars to the outside world. Because he fears nothing Well excep maybe t the darkness and how that affects the well-being of his people and his son, but other than that he -of course- is fearless

Uh-oh that just sparked A THOUGHT...hmmm... But LOL: It's OK Thorin. Really. 'Coz you wouldn't be the MAJESTICALLY MAGNIFICENT EPIC GOD-KING that you are if you were insensitive and stupid and didn't have the far-seeing mind that can appreciate beauty. But tho - and I find this shocking - there is surprising dissent on the matter, I will maintain that you, Thorin, are the finest to have ever strode the dusty roads of Middle Earth, an incomparable vision of wondrous moonlight-streaked locks and absurdly masculine pulchritude. Too WORTHY to be in some SLIMY ELVEN CELL. But such fire cannot be contained... Yeah baby! That's our boy! Now just borrow Kili's bow and deal with whatever PEST is sullying the gate

Ok now it's time for more Thranduil pics. Because I can't sleep and going through all the stuff on the net is so much more fun Yes yes we knowssss Cuteness overload A little Thorin reading to his nephews for Avandel Somebody said BC would be a good person to play Thranduil's daddy. I found this photoshopping, I just don't see him playing Oropher He just looks too nice, I would expect someone much more fierce to play Oro.
