Since we mentioned the written frame-by-frame trailer analysis in the last thread [In reply to]

I thought I'd linky link to the live, 1hour and 36minute long frame-by-frame that they did on TORn Tuesday this week. The actual analysis starts at about 16:00 and of course, there's commentary on Thranduil. Justin even seems to have a bit of a guy-crush on Thrandy, LOL, and I just about died laughing when he said that Leggy's horrified expression in the clip just after the part where we see Thrandy fighting is because he's thinking, "I'll never be as fabulous as my dad!" ROTFL!LaughLaughLaugh

I don't think so [In reply to]

Thranduil fan or not, I really don't. It never even crossed my mind.

For a host of reasons, an actor w. height, elegant profile, youth, different voice, and frankly charisma.

Lucius - *shrug*. Whereas Thranduil immediately brought to mind stories of the Tuatha de Danaan, the wild hunt, nature gods and the like, Lucius just reminds me of a crow, really, black robe, kind of snotty - but it could be anybody w. longer pale blonde hair.

To me, re the HP villains it's Helena BC that knocked it out of the park. And Alan Rickman was awesome as usual.

Thanks for this, Eruvandi! It's a very nice frame-by-frame, and the two guys are hilarious. Though I'm just slightly disappointed there's not more talk about weapons (you know what I mean... Thranduil's to-die for twin swords and fighting styleHeartHeartHeartHeartHeartHeart for one) and war. I guess not every guy's into those things. Evil

Thanks for weighing in, Avandel! So well-said. Frankly, people really just need to get out of the rut. I am rather tired of the Lucius Malfoy angle just cos of the long blond hair.

Fair disclosure: I am no Harry Potter fan, neither book nor movie. but I have seen the movies just cos they're so omnipresent and always rerunning on the channels here. At no point in time did I ever get any sense of similarity nor resemblance, plus I have seen quite enough trawling in the Wilds.

     Lucius [In reply to]

I thought about it, like, once. I couldn't remember exactly what Lucius looked like. Went to google images and went away satisfied that there was really no comparison IMO, apart from shade of hair.

Just watching the TORn Tuesday now. LOL - I have one of those colourful propeller caps!

Oh Eruvandi, Terrible Thranduilitis Twinses mine [In reply to]

... remember that conversation about warped sense of aesthetic appreciation (or lack thereof) in our respective familial units re Thranduil?

Well, now, riddle me this... are these not images, and thematically similar ones at that, of the same MAGNIFICENT being?

Huh? Huh?

Huh?

Cos... like I changed my wallpaper to the BotFA still last week, and since my mum expressed her *ahem*misguided opinion when I had put up the vlog one initially, I didn't bother asking her what she thought of it. So just now, my sister told me, our mum had GUSHED, G.U.S.H.E.D. when she first saw my wallpaper. And so my sis reminded her of her *ahem*former protest at the vlog image.

Guess her reaction? She laughed it off as a different pic and insisted this is a hottie CrazyCrazyCrazyCrazyCrazyCrazyCrazyCrazy

I did wonder at the sense of quietly lighting up I've been getting from her when my wallpaper's in view. Tongue

I just LOVE my mum

Mums! Can't win them all Smile

She is not a fantasy fan per se since language is quite the barrier for her but she is quite the splatter-gore and physical comedy fan Smile We like to project movies on the TV for her rather than bring her to the cineplex since she'd have questions and we'd have to explain stuff. She prefers that too. Gives lots of opportunities to have wallpapers mine in scaled up 1920X1080 glory EvilAngelicHeart

But yeah, she sure appreciate hotties unabashedly... eh for the most part. The initial Thranduil resistance was a surprising fluke and I am happy it is now rectified Sly

But Legolas gets to be in SIX moviesUnsure, and both Thranduil and Thorin fans must needs depend on EEs for as many minutes of goodness as possibleUnsure. And another unexpected thing has happened to me (along w. falling in love w. a whole bunch of hairy guys) - when I re-watched LOTR, I just missed the Hobbit characters so much. Even Bard.

And I know LOTR is in the future so to speak, mostly different parts of ME, and all that. But for me re-watching LOTR I found myself actually getting impatient (except for a lot of TTT, as usual). I missed characters that aren't even supposed to be there!Crazy

Your mom's awesome!Cool In her defense, it does seem to be a different scene in each pic, although it's still the same hottie. The lighting is different in both pics for one thing, and Thranduil has orc blood on his face in the first pic and not in the other. But, hey, whatever floats her boat, right?Wink

Meanwhile, both of my parents still hold to the fact that Thranduil is sooooo fabulous, and my aunt is happy as ever to join me in drooling.

Btw my aunt finally found something to mail my Thrandy poster in, so I should get it soon and be able to post a pic.Smile

     Yeah [In reply to]

I don't know HP characters at all and had to Google images Lucious Malfoy too. Really, if it weren't for the hair, nobody would say he looks like Thranduil because he doesn't. That guy exudes an air of creepyness while Thranduil exudes non-creepy other-worldliness. Thranduil is also more handsome.

So of course in MY version of things, the Elven and Mountain kings realize the old trade agreements should be revisited and very slowly a relationship re-forms between the two kingdoms to the point where no orc would show their face within 100 miles of the region and Mirkwood will once again become the Greenwood.Tongue
