Could I get something warm with honey in it? I woke up Wednesday with the Ancalagon of sore throats, Thursday was head congestion day, and today seems to be cough day. I'll just sit in the corner with my pocket handkerchief. Thag you very buch.

It's good to have a real, proper Colorado winter for the first time in ages, but I'm ready for things to warm up a bit, please. Especially with Girl Scout cookie booth sales starting this weekend - standing around in the cold is not nearly as fun as it sounds... I'm hoping the kids and I can get in another episode or two of Sherlock. They've only made it to the end of the first season. Stay warm, Altaira!

I've been doing my porch with a broom, and I saw a neighbor doing his entire driveway with a push broom, lol. Though that was a day when it snowed very lightly and mostly just blown snow onto the drives and walks. I can't imagine standing outside in this. I hope the girls rotate inside the store (or wherever they're selling). Thankfully, it looks like we'll be back to nearly-spring temperatures next week. You stay warm too, Arandiel!

Two snow days off this week, and the kids at the school have been so wound up! Fortunately the projected nor'easter for this Monday appears to have fizzled out. I like snow, but I prefer it in small amounts! Don't forget that Valentine's Day is next week! Did you make sure to remind BG so he remembers to pick up a sufficient amount of chocolate for you?

Well, staying warm is certainly on the agenda :) , as is watching some of the Winter Olympics; oh, and I was finally able to snag the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary audio drama special "The Light At The End" from the library, which I heard was quite good, so I'll be listening to that, as well. :) A Winter Usual, please, Altaira; thanks, and I hope you have a great weekend!

We spent this week dodging large snow storms. Instead we got ice. I woke up this morning to what I thought was glass shattering. It was the ice coming off the trees, shattering on the ground. Such an odd sound! The neighbors are on the list to have a tree specialist come out and look at their lovely old Maple. It lost a significant limb in the storm. We're hoping they can save the tree. She's a beautiful old gal. So I think I'll have something warm today. Maybe warm spiced cider? Don't really want anymore ice for awhile.

That would be a 'yes.' Baileys and hot chocolate it is! Better make it two shots of Bailey's to help you cope with those kids. B.G. always gets me something special for Valentine's Day - one year it was a message in a heart-shaped bottle, one year a little Valentine's crossword puzzle lovers gift set (coffee cup, pencils, crossword puzzle books - all with hearts), and we always go out to a favorite restaurant. So, I'm sure this one will be just as special. How about you? Enjoy the weekend and stay warm!

It's so sad when trees are damaged from snow and ice. I remember several storms in Colorado when I could stand outside and listen to branches breaking off of trees at a rate of several per minute! *pours steaming cider into large mug* Have a fun and WARM weekend!

there is no indications of a thaw here neither. It is sunny bright and the ice is glistening on all the trees and bushes. It is pretty though. I would like a hot apple cider please with a lot of cinnamon. Have a craving for that. My son and i got all the snow off the boat port roof and the flat roof part on the house. That took some doing because is was super dense. We got under it and maneuvered it by sliding the shovel over the edges. My son did have some fun by snowboarding off the top of the garage roof onto the big pile of snow he dumped there. I took a video from his phone and he put it on some video site. He got a lot of 'likes' it turned out. Mrs. sil and i will go see the Monument Men tonight or saturday. That should be a good 'un. Oh, here is a character that that could be termed a 'Bofur blower' . We took turns clearing the 'en mass' happening the last few storms. Keep ye toes, ears, and noseses warm everyone. We will get a break in here somewhere soon:).
" 'Fair lady Goldberry!' said Frodo at last, feeling his heart move with a joy that he did not understand. He stood as he had at times stood enchanted by fair elven-voices; but the spell that was now laid upon him was different: less keen and lofty was the delight, but deeper and nearer to mortal heart; marvellous and yet not strange." Chapter VII: In the House of Tom Bombadil; FOTR's Faerie contains many things besides elves and fays and besides dwarfs, witches, trolls, giants or dragons; it holds the seas, the sun, the moon, the sky; and the earth, and all things that are one in it: tree and bird, water and stone, wine and bread, and ourselves, mortal men, when we are enchanted." — J.R.R. Tolkien

The week got off to a great start when the Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl! Woohoo! It's just been so much fun this week - everybody is smiling and chatting with random strangers. The number of fans who attended the parade Wednesday was greater than the population of the city itself. Then, on a personal note, I got a job! Woohoo again! My old team was able to renew my contract, so I go back to work in about a week. The only downside is that they'll probably expect me to work for like, a large part of the work day, which is really going to cut into my TORn time. Might have to cut back to only a couple of hours per day. Weekend plans: watching the Olympics. Happy weekend everyone!

I like the idea of that crossword-puzzle kit! Our Valentine's Day is pretty low-key, just cards and chocolate. We usually go out for dinner the week before - which would be tonight - because today is hubby's birthday (so he also gets to select the restaurant)! I'm betting it will be either Ruby Tuesday or Cuckoo's Nest (a Mexican restaurant in a converted barn, very atmospheric and terrific menu). Mmm...fajitas? Chimichangas? A mola dish?

Big event of the week has been my son's (Tallest Dwarf Prince) play. He is finally Stage Manager/Crew Chief this year and was so worried because all their practices got snowed out! The play is Alice in Wonderland and it has some cool tech effects and a lot of set work so he was anxious...but last night was Opening and they pulled it off amazingly well. Two more shows to go but it looked great so I am relieved. Had major Mom Stress Jitters. Ice here. Ice everywhere. Sunny today so some of it will soften just a wee bit so it can run a bit and then refreeze solid again tonight. So every day there is MORE ice. Cold enough so that the cars still give you a bit of attitude when you have to start them. But the winter Perfect Storm scenario they were predicting for Sunday seems to have been downgraded to just a single snowshower. (*relief*) Stay warm and well all. I'm drinking coffee as usual.

Brrrrr! I can see why you're craving hot cider, sil! The snow *is* pretty, and it *is* winter, after all, so I guess we can put up with it if we absolutely have to. Weeks like this always make me nervous though as March is usually our snowiest month, so it's like a portent of things to come. Have a great weekend, dear sir!
