I agree. (Although I'd take a horse-lord's nephew over a kingly ranger...)
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. And I looked it up, it is Edna Mode. She is voiced by the director! Didn't know that trivial fact... For the people that don't know what we are talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJnFx51hOFY

I read this post to my husband and we laughed ourselves silly. He is now adamant that we need a Thranduil collectible....complete with robe flipping action of course! His fabulousness is epic!

I've always thought it was Moll just from hearing the character speak. She is my favorite Pixar character. Does anyone know if Edna was supposed to be modeled after Edith Head the famous costume designer?

My favorite speech from the entire LOTR series: Sam:“It’s like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was after so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come and when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those are the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand, I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances at turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going because they were holding on to something.” Frodo: “What are we holding on to, Sam?” Sam: “That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for!”

Yes, Edna Mode was definitely supposed to be modeled after Edith Head the costume designer. BTW: Edna is one of my fave Pixar characters too! "No capes!" Thranduil should take her advice before he gets his cape caught in the war moose's antlers or something!

Lovely picture of Thorin. The best of the 'heroes' in terms of attractiveness for me, due largely to great acting on his part. Thranduil does it for me in a different way…just love his design and what I've seen of him so far.

So that's what he's using it for! It's always nice when accessories have a function along with fashion. I smell a fashion trend coming on!

Yup, Thorin is a heart-stopper for me as well. Mr. Majestic in spades! But just judging solely by what we've seen of Thranduil thus far, I'd say he's living up to my hopes and expectations, i.e. he's proud to the point of arrogance, vain and, looking at this latest clip with the cloak-flinging, a bit of a drama-queen! I love it! (But as far as attraction, I don't go for the pretty boys that the elves exemplify.) Great pic, Kim!

here, in this Thranduil thread... (PARTICULARLY post #20) by Ruxendil Thoorg. (couldn't resist R-T!) Sweet, Sweet Sindar It just has that certain...vibe.
Is there a Tolkien topic that you have wanted to look into more deeply, and write about your thoughts on it? If so, we'd like to hear from you for the next TORn Amateur Symposium- coming in November. Happy writing!
