You get a very good look at Thranduil's staff in the last one.

If that robe flip actually occurs in the film...oh my.

for the role, he has that believable "ageless" look like Elrond has unlike Legolas...

TTT: Aragorn pushing open the doors to Helm's Deep as the mighty warrior returned.

DOS: Thranduil throwing down his robe in fabulous style.

Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

Robes & Capes & Kings! [In reply to] Can't Post

Okay' KING Theodan had a Robe/Cape,
but he didn't do alot with it.

While possessed by Saraman
He used it to stay warm.

Riding to WAR (Helm's Deep & The Fields of Pellenor)
he looked TRULY Great!

Denethor (Although jus' a Steward)
His Robe/Cape was, More elaborate than Theodan's
...THAN his real position in Life,
so that added to his
"OverReaching" attitude
towards his position, as a Steward of Gondor.

Now Thrany's Robe REALLY gets some action..
A Prop like THAT
can be used to Great Effect!
(Waycool to see Dan Henna in the First shot
helping coach him on How to make it
Kingly Special)

Thor's Robe/Cape in Prologue Erebor was
used to Help establish that
he is Short,
by letting it drag on the Floor.

Betcha Dollars for Donuts...
Costumes with Robes/Capes
will be sold ALOT
for Costumes coming, Next Halloween!

Absolutely fabulous - thank you! [In reply to] Can't Post

Now THAT is the Elven King - now I understand (hope) why like Beorn and Smaug, Thranduil's been kind of kept under the radar re DOS PR - THAT is going to make major on-screen impact.
Gotta love his throne - yep, I'm definitely seeing DOS on the biggest movie theater screens I can choose from in my area. Great find!!!!!

There was One such Moment in LOTR [In reply to] Can't Post

Gandalf and Aragorn, Legolas, & Gimli
were stripped of their Weapons by Hama.

Entered the Golden Hall,
yet Grimi screams...
"I Told you to take his STAFF!"

So, Troops attack Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas
BUT, A, L, & G..Take down all of them...

THEN..., Gandalf FLINGS open his Grey Cloak...
Revealing "Gandalf the WHITE!"

Great use of a Cloak, played wonderfully
by Sir IAN!

Thrandriul's Cape,Robe,Cloak?

WILL be the
Most Elegant, Ethereal, Elvish Material
we will ever
have SEEN!

Possibly, he would look a little too like an albino with blond eyebrows (or like an alien, not in a good way).

Can your heart handle the fabulousness? [In reply to] Can't Post

Ok, I can't seem to stop giggling over this! Does anyone really, really, really think this robe flip will actually happen in the movie? While it is quite sassy, it is also just a smidge over the top. I think Thranduil has the potential to be a very deep and complex character and I don't want that to be too overshadowed by his apparent fabulousness. Tongue

Anyway, I wonder how long it took Lee to perfect that super haughty/prideful look? My, oh, my, he does look good...(Note to self: remember to bring bucket to theater to catch my drool during Thrandul scenes!)

My favorite speech from the entire LOTR series: Sam:“It’s like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was after so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come and when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those are the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand, I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances at turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going because they were holding on to something.” Frodo: “What are we holding on to, Sam?” Sam: “That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for!”

Thor was in Erebor????????

I mean, he has a really cool red cape and all............

and doth use it to greateth effect....

Then there's the costume designer in The Incredibles: "NO CAPES!!!"

(I think Thrandy is fabulous too... I just hope we see more than just sass).

I can't type either........

Now I have to do a meme: Thor in Erebor......

Go outside and play...
