Online [In reply to] Can't Post

Yeah, due to those circumstances, I just find it easier to watch it once it's released online. Plus, it's free that way. And I can watch it more than once or pause to obsess Laugh

Mixed emotions [In reply to] Can't Post

Truthfully, this morning when I woke up to the news that the trailer was rated and imminent, I was completely ambivalent. But as the day has worn on, I'm starting to get more excited, though I'm nowhere even close to the excitement level I had last year or the year before for the past two trailers.

I guess I'm just still cautious about how this film is going to end up, so I'm neither dreading nor ecstatic for the trailer's release.

Also, I have another dilemma. If the trailer is excellent and on a level with the first one, I might get too excited and go into the film with too high of expectations, resulting in another disappointment. On the other hand, if the trailer is a disaster or underwhelming (like trailer 2), I may continue to be nonchalant and indifferent to the film, fearing the worst. I guess if I had to choose, I'd rather be blown away by the trailer just because I would like to be excited for the next two films, even if I end up disappointed again. Urg, so confusing Crazy

I suppose hope [In reply to] Can't Post

as a result of a brilliant trailer, even if the film ends up a disappointment, is worth something. I love the first auj trailer, but the second was the first warning that things would fall apart...

Agreed [In reply to] Can't Post

Though I personally think that the announcement of a third film was when things started to go downhill. After that, it seemed that every other piece of news concerned me.

I think this trailer has the potential to warn of similar problems with DOS.

A decision to split into a trilogy [In reply to] Can't Post

in theory could be either a blessed decision or a mistake. Many took the good decision route such as myself...looking back on things, i have really changed my mind.

But i am curious to know is how is jackson planning on creating the narrative for the next two films...What are the themes and the begginings and ends of the different stories...why the change to three films...We might know some of this if we can see , from the incoming trailer, some scenes from the ending of the Dos...

I hope you'll be more sensible this time around, Lusitano, [In reply to] Can't Post

in your approach to the trailer. I'm not surprised that you were so disappointed by the film. Me, I adopted the sensible approach and thoroughly enjoyed the film. You managed to destroy it for yourself. Your fault, not PJ's.

BTW, every time I see your avatar, I wonder for a second why you have chosen RA as Thorin, LOL!

"Now, Emileeid has confirmed that the trailer will indeed be attached to Man Of Steel. Additionally, it will premiere online June 12th 10 AM PDT. Despite recent classifications stating that the trailer will be just over two minutes in length, Emileeid says that it will be a full 2:30 theatrical trailer."

Good news then.

Not funny [In reply to] Can't Post

Thats not RA, its Jesus, played by another actor, whose names escapes me... :p

My days of drooling over RA's photos are over :p

As to my approach : i agree i shall have to keep a low profile and low expectations even if its good. Better to dont hope too much ...its peter jackson after all, not David Lean.

However, how on earth is it my fault that the movie sucks? lol Jackson made the film, its his fault if ii find it a poor film. People dont have to lower their standards for things they believe should be treated with great talent, artistry and care.

Sensible for me, in terms of what to expect from an adaptation of TH, is to expcet a good and faithfull translation of the novel to the big screen.

Since i am not getting that, at this point, the best i can hope for is ...something with the least amount of collateral damage. Tongue

This reminds me...we havent heard anything concerning the soundtrack used in this trailer...which we got for the most recent trailer...

You used to drool over RA photographs!!! Biggest surprise of the day, LOL!

I'd like to address the way you express things. You should say, "This movie sucks, IN MY OPINION." Otherwise you make your opinion into a universally accepted statement and we know from the way in which MOST members of the viewing public (and I have excluded you here, Lusitano) have received the film that your opinion doesn't coincide with what they think.

In MY honest opinion, this movie is a long way from sucking. In fact, IMHO, it's a very well-made, very enjoyable film and the best one I saw last year (and I saw all the ones that everyone else was excited about seeing).

Fine [In reply to] Can't Post

but i think its logical to assume my statements stem from my own opinion. Unless i provide facts, or numbers.

Hum , i dont know what those other films were about...but for me, being a film buff, and knowing how fantastic the moving image can be, TH, post trolls is little more than an uninspired average popcorn movie. That simply doesnt have anything, from a cinematic standpoint, that interests me.

Well, allow me to correct my statement...not RAs pictures, Thorins photos Tongue

Yes i was satisfied and looked forward to Thorin so i drooled over a little slideshow i made of some dwarf images focusing on him with the misty mountains song as the soundtrack...Blush

And while I didn't enjoy AUJ, I'm still hopeful that DOS and TABA can still be wonderful films.

Truthfully, I don't want to know where the split will come between the next two films, so I hope we don't see anything that will give that away.

It was the feeling of being bored that suprised me most while watching AUJ for the first time [In reply to] Can't Post

I really couldn't believe it. Looking back, I can't believe how excited I was for every trailer, poster, vlog, etc..

Like a lot of people, I gave PJ the benefit of the doubt before seeing the film. I kind of feel stupid for doing that now. It seems like they've really dug themselves a hole with all these new plot points and characters they are creating. It's like a domino effect that could possibly make the next two films even more convoluted than AUJ.

I will undoubtedly watch the trailer next week, but my expectations are so low that I really can't be disappointed this time around. I guess that's a good thing, but I would have rather been blown away by AUJ so that I could still be giddy with excitement for DOS.

Quite right [In reply to] Can't Post

i feel the same, which...is so surprising...Boredom in Middle Earth! How the mighty have fallen lol.

I dont feel stupid, i think i should have been more conscious of jacksons filmmaking skills and why they worked for the most part in fellowship of the ring, which i think it is an extraordinary cinematic achievement, even if its not entirely the best adaptation possible...and why they began to turn bloated, as if he goes on steroids and just infuses it with cheesy dialogue, invented stuff, over the top action scenes and set pieces etc...

Me too i feel as if i cant be more disappointed...which, in a weird way, could turn out to be a good thing. But...Azog and Tauril and Aragorn Junior lurk at the corner waiting to assault me with their cheesyness lol

Who knows, perhaps with a full year to work on it this time around, and having the first cut ready in january...jackson can create a more balanced film.

Just a fools hope. Wink

I feel somewhat similar [In reply to] Can't Post

Though perhaps not to the same degree of utter disappointment - i think the film is alright but no better.

I have some expectation of DoS - to me it has some of the best parts of the story in it so it's hard to see how they could mess it up, plus i really like the look of Beorn's Hall, Laketown, Dale, Erebor and look forward to seeing more of them and the beautiful NZ scenery which is the real star of these movies!

I don't have much faith in the pacing, dialogue or some of the characters and my expectations compared to last year are much lower.

On a scale of 1-10 on how excited i am for a new trailer - bout a 4/10.

I just really hope DoS is awesome so AUJ can be like a bad dream!

And Iluvatar spoke to Ulmo, and said: 'Seest thou not how here in this little realm in the Deeps of Time Melkor hath made war upon thy province? He hath bethought him of bitter cold immoderate, and yet hath not destroyed the beauty of thy fountains, nor of my clear pools. Behold the snow, and the cunning work of frost! Melkor hath devised heats and fire without restraint, and hath not dried up thy desire nor utterly quelled the music of the sea. Behold rather the height and glory of the clouds, and the everchanging mists; and listen to the fall of rain upon the Earth! And in these clouds thou art drawn nearer to Manwe, thy friend, whom thou lovest.

I think this is so true [In reply to] Can't Post

I completely ignored the film until it was actually out (didn't even see any trailers), because I had very low expectations for it. I thought it would be a cartoony children's film, like the book, and therefore didn't have much interest in it. I also purposely avoided rereading the book before I saw the film – I remember rereading the LOTR trilogy just before I saw FOTR, and being baffled by the differences between the book and film. I didn't really like it much until I saw it the second time.

It could be that some people had very high expectations before they went to see AUJ. They perhaps envisaged something quite different from what we got, and ended up disappointed. For my part, I am very happy with most of the film – I particularly like the casting and acting of the main characters, as well as the visuals and music.

Possibly, if one were to whip oneself up into a negative state before the next film, one might be pleasantly surprised…
