They are a little high in price for just child's toys. The company describes the 6" figures as collectibles. So being critical is appropriate here.

But others I wouldn't buy because they looked awful. Most of the versions of Aragorn made me cringe. I think I finally found one toward the later period that I could live with. The articulation points are clunkier on these, that's for sure. It could be better. But it could be worse.

Those prices are comparable to ToyBiz and those were 'toys'

I think they're hoping for the best of both worlds: toys for kids... collectible for adults. And even at that price, I can tell you I found plenty in boxes of toys in garage sales purchased for 8-13 year old. If you're going to sell to kids, the toys must be durable and preferably bendable. Even smaller figures clearly meant for kids - like the Avatar, Last Airbender movie toys - are at least $8 new and at full price. And even not considering them to be toys... I don't think they were bad. I would buy them and be happy with them.

Did you see the Frodo with the Ring figure? It was a ToyBiz figure but it looked pretty similar to this Bilbo one. So, I don't think what the toy looks like is indicative of what Bilbo will look like wearing the Ring. (if fact, Frodo wearing the Ring is one of the toys I wouldn't have bought full price but I found at a thrift store or garage sale. He's sitting on the shelf with all my Elves)

That was not meant to be offensive in any way, and I am certainly not trying to insult anyone. What I meant was that once this would have appealed to me, and it does for others of all sorts of ages, and I was trying to apologize for the harshness of my first comment. Obviously I went about it in the wrong way, forgetting that it is so easy to misinterpret online. Seriously, I meant no offence whatsoever.

I was expecting much worse from these figures, and can say that I've been pleasantly surprised. It's the manufacturers first real attempt at action figures, and they turned out better than some you can find in stores now (MIB 3, for example). Sure, they really don't seem to match up to TB's awesome line, but they'll do. Being a huge figure collector (and Tolkien fan), this many years without LOTR or Hobbit toys has been painful haha :p Oh, and this is my first post...so, hello! :)

I was hoping for better quality. However, they did know the quality of ToyBiz and Play Along figures ( as reference) They are really "toys". Gandalf is "bad", others are more or less acceptable. I have plenty of TB action figures but I will NOT got those. It's their first shot and I hope they will improve the quality as soon as possible.

Good to hear you aren't too disappointed. I like the 6" scale, but the 3.75" ones...well they are sort of cute, but that's about all.

I think the 3.75 line looks great as well! Does anyone have an idea about the specific articulation on those figures? It looks like it varies.

Some of the toy review sites have more pictures, can't remember which at this moment, but I saved the links. I'll post some comparisons of the larger and smaller scale for the three that have both later today.

I vaguely remember reading that the first Strider figure was delayed (and therefore difficult to find) because the facial scanning technology they used to capture actor likenesses was having trouble with Viggo. It might have been the stubble? I can't recall the specifics. Apparently that issue persisted, because every version of Aragorn looked rather different!

By the end of the line in 2005, the highly detailed and very articulated 6 inch figures by Toy Biz were approximately $8 (give or take) at major retailers, and slightly more at higher-end stores. These days, with rising oil and production costs, quality and detail just aren't what they used to be. A simple 3.75 inch figure now costs $8-10, with 6 inch figures at $15-20 at major retailers. And as you can see, the new 6 inch figures feature less detail, with less and simpler articulation. For mass market action figures, the high quality of the Toy Biz LotR figures were an exception even in their time, and almost an impossibility today. Having said that, I was still among those that were hoping for better quality for the Hobbit figures. I think you summed it up rather nicely: "It could be better. But it could be worse." I wanted better, but these aren't so bad that I won't be getting every last one of them!
"Good Morning!"

The original price is $19.99 of this action figure now just cut to be a half which is only $10. However, the quality wonĄŻt be reduced at the same time. Our products are all made manually by nice materials and also handworks. There are other models available for you to select, and price is also the most reasonable in ACGON. http://www.acgon.com/...83-91c541267e1b.html
