*claps with geeky delight* There's hobbity pics in the upper-left circles! Can't Post

I just realized this morning, that Bifur was staring at me out of one of those circles! And Thorin - and the Professor himself!

Wonderful! Does anyone know when these started? And who else has been seen, so far?

first one i saw [In reply to] Can't Post

...was thorin (from his entrance at bag end... nice!)

and he keeps on popping up... nicer!!

so far have seen (helping out with a bit of QA work...)

nori/ori during blunt the knives
dori in promo shot
frodo reading "no admittance/party business"
a goblin (ack!)
fili/kili entrance at bag end
gollum looking piteous
four shots of the professor (one in a hat, one in profile, one sitting against a tree, one b&w/3/4 view)
looks like a new shot of the shire
one of the trolls (ack!)
moon runes scene
radagast
gloin and oin
bofur laughing
dwalin with a lantern
golllum on a rock
goblin king (ack!)
stone giants
the lonely mountain (hurrah!)
a +really+ nice-looking shot of elrond, looking very sage
one broken image
elrond and gandalf
white council "gazebo"
looks like a new map
bilbo going out the bag end front door
bilbo finding the ring
thorin tree-walking (nice!)
saruman at the white council
bilbo in his comfy chair
bifur (studio shot)
a beautiful shot of a mountain in lovely umber tones
bolg (ack!)
first sight of galadriel at the white council, in her grey cloak
balin (studio shot)
the eye of smaug (whoa!)
peterj at the front door of bag end (yay!)
gandalf's "G" rune on bag end's front door
gandalf sitting against a tree
thorin washing his hair
bombur eating something yellow (perhaps pikachu)
another/same broken image
something absolutely black and blue that i cannot make out at all (edit: checking magpie's link of old lotr images, this one is one of the old/pre-existing set)

cheers --

.

aka. fili orc-enshield
+++++++++++++++++++
the scene, as i understand it, is exceptionally well-written. fili (in sort of a callback to the scene with the eagles), calls out "thorRIIIIIIN!!!" just as he sees the pale orc veer in for the kill. he picks up the severed arm of an orc which is lying on the ground, swings it up in desperation, effectively blocking the pale orc's blow. and thus, forever after, fili is known as "fili orc-enshield."

this earns him deep respect from his hard-to-please uncle. as well as a hug. kili wipes his boots on the pale orc's glory box. -- maciliel

I documented the home page skins at this page of the TORn Mathom-house history wiki:
http://mathom-house.net/...in/TORnHomePageSkins

Many of you know that the skin we see on the Message Boards was the same as the Home Page skin before Oct 2007. At that point, the Home Page got a redesign but the MB stayed the same.

You can see all the images that appeared in rotation (up till the insertion of Hobbit images) here:

yeah... I'm getting that, too [In reply to] Can't Post

When I get a picture that displays, the code for that looks like this:

<img width="151" height="145" border="0" alt="Lord of the Rings Tolkien" src="http://pe1850b.theonering.net/torn-images/slides_dyn/slide_107.jpg">

When I get the broken image, the code looks like this:

<img width="151" height="145" border="0" alt="Lord of the Rings Tolkien" src="http://pe1850b.theonering.net/torn-images/slides_dyn/Thumbs.db">

Thumbs.db is the file Window creates to use as a thumbnail for that folder. It is the sort of file that is hidden on an individual's system if one chooses it in options. (Hide system files)

But if you copy that folder and send it somewhere else, the Thumbs.db file is copied along with all the other files and sent along with all the other files in the folder.

When I upload folders onto my website using ftp, that Thumbs.db file will show up in those online folders.

I think the website code is set to show all files in rotation and it's pulling up the Thumbs.db file in rotation with actual jpg images. It's not one of your images that is broken. It's a file that shouldn't be in there.

Brilliant! // [In reply to] Can't Post

Happiness: money matters, but less than we think and not in the way that we think. Family is important and so are friends, while envy is toxic -- and so is excessive thinking. Beaches are optional. Trust is not. Neither is gratitude. - The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner as summarized by Lily Fairbairn. And a bit of the Hobbit reading thrown in never hurts. - NottaSackville

Icon limerick [In reply to] Can't Post

We love every new Hobbity icon
They are something we just want to click on
But since we can't, we confess
we just keep hitting Refresh
Let's hope our fan fervor
does not crash the server
