I do happen to have a Twitter (It can be fun!) (Handle @ShadoKat771) and I've posted 2 questions to our Majestic Dwarf. One is the "Is the Battle of 5 Armies going to be in the snow?" one that everyone's dying to know, and second, because I'm curious, are they filming pickups now? Just because I'm a curious cupcake...

Main reason I'm staying clear of twitter is that my time is just too precious for me and I don't want to weed through tons of useless stuff just to find a few highlights that might or might not be there. I remember trying that with the TORN twitter during last years ComicCon, and it was too overwhelming for me. I just kept thinking "Why am I reading this? I don't want to know these things? Why do people keep writing about standing some place or just WANTING to be there? Where is the actual info?". If I was an elf and knew I had an infinite amount of years ahead of me, then sure.

I don't think they can be filming pickups at the moment - or at least not those involving RA - because he's in the UK at the moment and will appear on the Lorraine breakfast show tomorrow morning.

If it's not too late, maybe you might want to post this to Thorin: Did he like the way the "Didn't I say...." speech & hug came out? Lots of people found it too contrived, I wonder if he was comfortable playing it like that. :curtsey: and if it's too late that's alright, I sort of doubt they'll pick "controversial" questions, after reading through Martin's session.

that they ignore all those thousands of questions already asked and concentrate on questions that are tweeted to them live. So, get going, people, LOL!

I think though WB picks the questions. I'm not sure about that but I'm pretty sure they do (they don't want them answering questions obviously about films 2 and 3 and such they shouldn't). But I think this is going kind of slow LOL

Actually with Serkis there they might not be picking them. I honestly think they picked Freeman's although Im not entirely sure. Freeman's was at WB though in LA. In this case they have Serkis there and they may be letting him go ahead and pick the questions live. I agree about the duck one. Not the brightest. I also suspect that's why it's not going quickly.

They must have given the laptop to one of them to type or someone is helping with the questions. It was taking longer before and now they are zipping along.

to feeling very disappointed in that. It started off as a RA session and then someone had the bright idea of inviting AS and JN too and I think that's why the whole thing fell apart. Too many cooks. JN is garrulous and always tends to dominate any situation he's in as well. People sent in thousands of questions to RA and must have been disappointed that so few were answered. Ah well, all three of them gave up hours of their time there and I'm grateful. They must have been ravenous by the time they left unless staff kept feeding them sandwiches, LOL!.

Most of the twitter chats aren't that great. I don't care who does them. For one thing, WB is not going to let any significant questions about the films be asked. They just aren't. Secondly the answers are stuck to the 120 character Twitter format. No matter who answers there's going to be an issue with that. Martin's wasn't much better to be honest. A lot of fluff questions and not much substance. You have to remember this is being done to market the BR/DVD release coming up so it's all marketing. I don't think these guys are that thrilled with having to do it either to be honest. I'm almost 99% sure Martin isn't. he looked annoyed at several points during that Crave Online interview. LOL.

will have persuaded RA to open a Twitter account in the near future, especially since some of the posters began to get a bit abusive when they took so long to answer. But I noticed that he admitted again to a fear of deep water - and he gets involved is so many unpleasant scenes with water: he's been waterboarded for real in two series, half-drowned in Captain America when that sub filled up with water (at the bottom of a tank on set),and has had the barrel scene in TH. In spite of his fear, people who work with him say he's game for anything.

I knew about his fear of water and that whole Captain America scene. That has to be at the back of his mind. All of these are pretty fluff stuff they have to do for the promotion of the film. We'll get a few more I'd suspect by the time this is over in 2014. I don't expect though RA or MF will ever get Twitter. It's just not their gig. I don't blame them either. As I said Martin's wife (partner whatever) Amanda had a really bad experience with Twitter and she deleted hers. I have no doubt Martin will never have one. I would be shocked quite frankly if he did.

but I read that link that Shirehorse put up. So was that pretty much the extent of it, or was there more? I guess on the Twitter Q's and A's are very limited, which is frustrating to say the least. I wonder if anyone here got their questions asked and answered?

Twitter has a 120 character limit. Because of this any dialogue is very limited. That is why it tends to lean towards fluff type questions and answers. That is, questions that can be answered very succinctly and without much depth. Some of the questions and answers were okay, but it's tough to get any idea because, as Shire pointed out, they added both Andy Serkis and James Nesbitt to the mix. Further I think at first what was happening is the 3 actors were having to read through their respective questions, then passing the laptop between them to answer which was taking quite a while. I think they finally passed the laptop to either one of them or a third person and it went much more quickly. you aren't going to get a lot of depth from a twitter chat though. It's mostly promotional for WB. Still it's nice to see them in that one picture there (LOL especially RA) and answering some questions at least.

The look of horror on RA's face was priceless!! And I don't blame him for not getting a Twitter account. He'd get constantly swamped with posts from giggly fangirls. I see the posts sent to GM, and I'm impressed with how he responds. He's so nice and never says anything mean or negative! I know I wouldn't have the patience to tolerate some of the continual posts begging for attention. I'm sure RA would delete his account within 24 hours in complete terror. But for the interview itself, I was a bit disappointed that they weren't able to answer more questions. I did love some of the responses from AS! Some of his posts had me in hysterics! And JN was equally funny! Both AS and JN looked like they were having fun with the questions. RA just answered the questions straight, though his comment about a giant duck with a sword in it's mouth was rather amusing.

I'm sure RA was stressing out looking over the #askthorin twitter feed and looking at the questions. Someone asked "Do you know what Bagginshield is? LOL. I hope no one explained it to him if he didn't know. No way was he answering that question. Embarrassing really. I wish people would ask halfway decent questions. I'm sure AS and JN were getting a laugh over that one.
