I'm waiting for the SEE.

It's a bait tactic to get fans shell out bucks for a version they'll never touch again once the SEE comes out. At least i won't.

I'll buy the blue- ray combo, then I'll buy the EE, when it comes out. I would not be able to wait until November anyway.

Woot! Called it! [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been saying the preview wouldn't come out until after AUJ was on blu-ray (though I didn't think it would be this soon!).

Stinks terribly that one must buy the blu-ray to see it's full length, though. Like others, I'm waiting for EE. Looking forward to the short preview, though!

There's a sad sort of clanging from the clock in the hall and the bells in the steeple, too.
And up in the nursery an absurd little bird is popping out to say coo-coo (coo-coo, coo-coo).

One thing this post proves is [In reply to] Can't Post

money is tight all over the world and has been for the last two or three years if not longer.

During LOTR, the economy had expendable money. I think I might have five copies of each movie.

This leads back to the box office numbers....tickets are expensive......money is tight...which equals less viewers unless they're diehards like us...

People today still go to movies, just not as often..

And we have a lot more [In reply to] Can't Post

total bombs too. People spend there hard earned money where they want to...usually brand or name recognition wins out.

Lets face it, Super Hero's are big regardless of how bad the movie actually is. Middle-earth is pretty big too. The only way these franchises could fail is if they had Nicolas Cage in the movie. Cool

A billion is within reach with a loyal and dedicated fan base.

Saw it too, unlike [In reply to] Can't Post

FOTR for various reasons I was only able to see AUJ one time in the theaters. However..... the big consolation prize is that I now have a Sony 55XBR8, Polk Audio Lsi15, Lsi f/x, Lsi C and a Monster THX subwoofer all powered by a Pioneer SC-37 in a cathedral ceiling Home Theater Cool. I plan on shaking the timbers and picking up on the special details only gleaned from multiple viewings!!!

That's so true [In reply to] Can't Post

I certainly don't have the money to spend on a film I didn't like with special features I've already seen. I'll wait for the EE to spend my money.

I was planning to buy the 3D Blu-ray anyway, so this is a great bonus! [In reply to] Can't Post

However, as much as I love Gandalf, I am a bit disappointed that my future cover doesn't have Thorin on it. Maybe there can be a special edition EE release version that has his hair on it. Almost as good as those Argonath bookends.

What's the difference if I pay for a movie ticket to see a trailer or have a perk with the 2-Disc Special Ed DVD I was planning on buying anyway :D

*rubs hands together* This is gonna be good!

Do the extended editions come out after the entire trilogy has been in theaters or is it one by one?

For LotR [In reply to] Can't Post

The EEs each came out about a month before the opening of the next film. Which was nice, one could buy the EE and watch it and then go see the next film of the series in the theater.

Im confused [In reply to] Can't Post

so you HAVE to buy the bluray-dvd combo to have access to the DOS sneak peek? Why a code to see an event? They're getting worst and worst in limiting fans to enjoy features from these films and all for money sakes.

But let's say you buy the darn combo. Is the access code gonna be in the packet? Do you have to ask for it where you buy it? It says "more information" on the "sneak" site but it's just a repetition of getting your code when you buy it. Unimpressed
